Regulatory updates
In 2025, Fitch Ratings upgraded Ethias' Insurer Financial Strength (IFS) rating from 'A' to 'A+' with a Stable Outlook. For full-year 2025, Ethias reported record premium income of EUR 3.83 billion (+8% YoY) and a net result of EUR 229 million (+8%). The Solvency II ratio reached 203%, exceeding the 200% threshold for the first time, two years ahead of plan. Ethias targets premium income of over EUR 4.6 billion by 2029. The EU amended Solvency II Directive (in force January 2025, transposition deadline January 2027) and DORA (applicable since January 2025) impose new obligations on Belgian insurers including Ethias. Ethias is supervised by the NBB (prudential) and the FSMA (conduct), and is authorised under licence no. 196.
