Fuel and motorway tolls are not covered. The renter must hold a valid credit card, be at least 21 years old, and have held a valid driving licence for more than one year. Driver age experience limit | No minimum driver age or experience limit is specified in the General Terms and Conditions for the standard Casco product. For the replacement vehicle benefit under the abroad assistance programme the renter must be at least 21 years old and have held a valid driving licence for more than one year. | No explicit minimum driver age or experience requirement is stated in the general terms and conditions. However, coverage is excluded when the vehicle is driven by an unlicensed driver or a driver without a valid driving licence. | Premium surcharges apply for owners or leaseholders aged under 25 years (20% surcharge) and aged 25 to 30 years (10% surcharge). Discounts apply for owners aged 40 to 50 years (5%) and over 50 years (10%). No minimum coverage age is stated but young-driver surcharges materially affect premium. | No explicit minimum driver age or experience requirement is stated in the General Terms and Conditions or the IPID. Coverage exclusions apply when the driver does not hold a valid driving licence for the relevant vehicle category, or has been deprived of the right to hold a licence by court or administrative order. |
Repair network requirements | Compensation method depends on vehicle age and premium tier. Up to 4 years old (or 4-8 years with additional premium for official service): authorised manufacturer service centre, insurer-trusted service, other service with written insurer consent subject to insurer price caps on parts and labour, or expert assessment. 4-12 years old with minimum premium for trusted service: trusted service, other service with written consent and price caps, or expert assessment. Over 12 years without additional premium: expert assessment only. Repairs abroad require prior written insurer approval. | The insurer may pay compensation in cash, pay for repair works directly, or replace the vehicle. Repairs abroad must be pre-approved by the insurer in writing; unauthorized foreign repairs may result in reduced or refused compensation. The insurer operates authorized workshop networks (trusted workshops) for direct billing. | Compensation method depends on vehicle age at claim: 0-4 years authorised brand-dealer workshop; 4-7 years trusted workshop with optional upgrade to original-parts workshop or authorised dealer against additional premium; 7-15 years trusted contracted workshop with optional original-parts upgrade against additional premium; over 15 years (cars and LCVs up to 3.5t) trusted contracted workshop; all other vehicle types over 13 years expert valuation only. Sufficient premium thresholds for workshop repair: BGN 500 for trusted workshop and BGN 600 for original-parts workshop for cars and LCVs; BGN 600 for heavier vehicles, buses, agricultural and construction machinery. Minimum admissible annual premium is BGN 240. | Three repair arrangements are available. First, Official Workshop covers repairs at the authorised dealer of the vehicle brand, available for vehicles up to 4 years old, or up to 8 years for passenger and freight cars up to 3.5 tonnes with insured sum above 10000 BGN at extra premium. Second, Trusted Workshop covers repairs at a workshop agreed with DZI, limited to 2 undocumented claims per year for vehicles over 8 years old owned by natural persons unless extra premium is paid. Third, Expert Assessment provides monetary indemnity based on DZI methodology with a premium discount. Without a special arrangement, indemnity defaults to expert assessment. |

Vehicles with foreign registration are covered only for Bulgaria and the EU. | The policy is primarily valid on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. Roadside assistance abroad covers all EU and Green Card states except Bulgaria, limited to 90 consecutive days per trip. |
Anti theft requirements | A functioning alarm system with visual and/or audible signalling and/or immobilizer is a mandatory condition for coverage under clause Theft of MPS (including when part of Full Casco) and Additional Multimedia Equipment for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles up to 3.5t. An immobilizer alone does not waive the alarm system obligation. The insurer may require additional protective devices. The insured must always lock the vehicle and activate the alarm when leaving it. Keys and vehicle registration documents must not be left in the vehicle. | Coverage for theft of the entire vehicle is excluded if the vehicle was left unlocked, left without being closed, with the ignition key inside, or with the alarm system switched off, faulty, or removed. Vehicle keys, remote controls for the alarm system, or vehicle registration documents must not be left inside the vehicle. For vehicles with insured sum above 20,000 BGN under Full Casco or Theft clauses, an additional protective device is installed at the insurer's expense. | The vehicle must be equipped with a functioning alarm system and/or immobiliser and/or active tracking GPS system as specified in the policy. These devices must be kept active and in good working order. Theft cover is void if the vehicle is left unlocked, with key in ignition, windows open, with a disabled or disconnected alarm or immobiliser, or with the immobiliser transponder left in the vehicle. Loss of a locking device or alarm remote must be reported to authorities and to the insurer within 24 hours; theft cover is suspended until the device is replaced. | For passenger and freight vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes insured under Theft and Robbery, Full Casco, or Total Loss clauses, the policyholder is obliged to install an alarm with light and sound signalling or an immobiliser. DZI may additionally require installation of further security devices at authorised firms specified in the policy. Coverage for theft and robbery risks does not apply until the required additional security devices are installed. All locking mechanisms and activation devices must be provided to DZI upon inspection and upon a theft claim. |
Claim notification deadline | For theft, robbery, explosion and fire: telephone notification within 2 hours of learning of the event AND written claim within 24 hours or by the first working day. For all other covered events: written notification within 5 working days. For theft specifically: all keys and vehicle registration certificate Parts I and II must be surrendered to the insurer within the same 24-hour deadline. Failure to notify in time that prevented establishment of the circumstances may result in claim denial. | For theft or robbery: notification within 24 hours of learning of the event. For all other insured events: notification within 3 working days of learning of the event, with written description of circumstances. For events abroad, the insurer must also be notified upon return to Bulgaria and the vehicle must be presented for inspection. | For all insured events: written notification to insurer within 3 working days of becoming aware. For theft: written notification to police AND insurer within 24 hours of becoming aware. For events abroad: notify local competent authorities immediately and insurer within 3 working days; damaged vehicle must be presented for inspection upon return to Bulgaria. For mechanical breakdown: written notification within 3 working days. Loss of locking device or registration document: notification to authorities and insurer within 24 hours. Vehicle ownership transfer: written notification within 7 days of signing the sale contract with a policy annex and vehicle inspection required. | For theft or robbery of the entire vehicle, notify DZI and competent authorities within 24 hours of becoming aware. For all other insured events, submit a written claim within 7 days of becoming aware of the event. For RTA abroad, notify DZI on the policy telephone number within 3 working days. DZI pays indemnity within 15 working days from the date all required documents have been submitted. |
Deductible rules | The policy may be concluded with or without a deductible at the insured's choice. The deductible may be an absolute amount, a percentage of the loss, a percentage of the insured sum, or a combination. The agreed deductible is stated in the policy and is deducted from each claim. If the assessed compensation is less than the deductible no payment is due. Changes require mutual written agreement in the form of an addendum. | The premium is determined based on the insured sum, vehicle type, age, risk coverage, and any agreed mandatory deductible (безусловна франшиза). If installment payment is agreed and an insured event occurs, any unpaid installments become immediately due and the insurer deducts them from the compensation. The insured sum is reduced after each paid compensation; re-insurance is possible but not if less than 2 months remain until policy expiry. | Three deductible options per published tariff: no deductible at standard rates, BGN 150 per claim at reduced rates, or BGN 250 per claim at further reduced rates. The deductible is deducted from every partial-loss indemnity but does not apply to total-loss indemnities. When repair is carried out at an insurer-designated workshop, the insured pays the deductible amount directly to the workshop. If the calculated indemnity is less than the deductible, the insurer owes nothing. | A deductible can be agreed for Super and Full Casco clauses. The policyholder then pays a reduced premium per DZI tariff and the agreed deductible amount is subtracted from every indemnity payment. An Advance Bonus arrangement is also available under Super and Full Casco for passenger vehicles up to 16 seats and freight vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes: DZI grants an upfront premium discount, but if a claim arises the advance bonus amount becomes due and may be offset against the indemnity. For repairs abroad of heavy freight vehicles above 3.5 tonnes, trailers, and buses above 16 plus 1 seats, a mandatory deductible of 1000 EUR applies per claim where planned repair exceeds provisional minimum. |

Direct payment policy | Compensation is paid exclusively by bank transfer to the entitled person's designated account, always in euro. For total loss following theft, payment follows termination or suspension of criminal proceedings but no earlier than 90 days from the event. Outstanding premium instalments are deducted from the compensation before payment. | The insurer may, at its discretion, pay the indemnity in cash, pay for repair works directly, or replace the damaged vehicle. Repairs outside Bulgaria must be pre-approved by the insurer; unauthorized foreign repairs may result in reduced or refused compensation. Authorized repair networks (trusted workshops) allow direct billing from the insurer. | Compensation is paid by bank transfer to the account indicated by the insured or third beneficiary within 15 working days after all required documents are submitted. Repair at an insurer-designated service workshop is an alternative settlement method where the insurer pays the workshop directly. Payment to a third party requires a notarially certified power of attorney. | DZI pays claims directly to the repair workshop when using the Trusted Workshop or Official Workshop special arrangements. Under the Expert Assessment arrangement, the insured receives a monetary indemnity. Assistance services abroad for RTA events under Full Casco and Super clauses are paid directly to the Assistance Company by DZI. For partial losses outside Bulgaria, an advance payment for provisional repair up to 10% of the insured sum is available. |
