Direct payment

GF Forsikring typically settles claims either by paying the repair workshop directly for approved repairs or by cash compensation based on the replacement value of the car; for VAT-registered owners, GF advances VAT to the repairer on liability claims, which the owner must then reimburse.

Geographic scope

Denmark

Kasko covers Denmark and the countries covered by the SOS 'Red Card' rescue-insurance scheme abroad; the mandatory liability part covers Denmark and Green Card countries. GF Forsikring may change coverage abroad with 14 days' notice.

Unique selling points

  • Fixed-price guarantee: the premium does not rise just because the policyholder caused the accident or there is no liable third party.
  • GF is a member-owned mutual insurer that shares its profits with policyholders as a discount on their premium.
  • GF's car insurance was rated 'good' and placed 3rd out of 14 EV car insurance products tested by Forbrugerrådet Tænk in January 2026.
  • Kasko includes free repair of windscreen stone chips with no deductible.
  • With Kasko, damage to an EV/hybrid battery and charging cable in an accident is covered.

Coverage limits

Own Damage / Comprehensive Cover

Covered

Kasko covers essentially any damage to, and theft of, the insured car, including its fitted and unfitted equipment, regardless of fault. Settlement is by repair, cash compensation based on the replacement price of an equivalent car, or replacement of parts; the terms state no fixed monetary ceiling.

Source

Total Loss / New-Value Compensation

Conditional

If the car is a total loss, GF Forsikring pays the replacement value of an equivalent car by default. Registered owners of privately-registered cars (including demo cars under 5,000 km) that are not leased get full new-car-price compensation instead if the loss occurs within the first year after first registration and repair costs exceed 50% of the car's new value at the time of loss.

Source

Partial Damage / Repair Cover

Covered

Repairable damage is settled by putting the car back into the condition it was in before the loss. The policyholder generally chooses the repair shop, but GF Forsikring may direct where repairs occur if necessary, and repairs may not start without GF Forsikring's or its assessor's prior agreement.

Source

Theft and Robbery

Covered

Kasko covers theft and robbery of the car, and theft/attempted theft of equipment fitted inside or on a locked car. Demounted equipment (original tools, spare parts, etc.) is only covered if kept in a properly locked room with evidence of forced entry (this requirement does not apply to charging equipment). Aftermarket AV/electronic equipment and non-original spare parts are each capped at DKK 23,487 (2023 base year). For cash settlement, the car must remain unrecovered for four weeks after reporting to police and GF Forsikring.

Source

Glass Damage

Covered

Glass damage (e.g. windscreen stone chips) is included under Kasko's general 'any damage' cover; no deductible is charged if a damaged windscreen is repaired rather than replaced. The optional 'Udvidet glas' add-on removes the deductible for repairing glass other than the windscreen and cuts the replacement deductible to DKK 1,606 (2023 base year), with no step/price consequence.

Natural Perils / Weather Damage

Covered

Damage from falling objects (e.g. roof tiles blown off a house) and other weather events is covered under Kasko's general 'any damage' clause. Damage directly or indirectly caused by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions or other natural catastrophes in Denmark (excluding the Faroe Islands and Greenland) is explicitly excluded.

Source

Vandalism

Covered

Vandalism (hærværk) is a covered peril under Kasko: the exclusion for damage confined to mechanical, electrical or electronic parts explicitly does not apply when the damage is caused by vandalism (among other listed perils), confirming vandalism is otherwise covered.

Source

Roadside Assistance Abroad

Conditional

Kasko and Delkasko include SOS rescue insurance abroad for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes: roadside assistance at the scene, towing, transport of the vehicle home, and a rental car, for countries covered by the Red Card scheme (reachable on +45 70 10 50 52). Within Denmark, GF Forsikring instead pays the necessary transport cost to the nearest workshop for a covered kasko/delkasko claim.

Replacement Vehicle / Loss of Use

DKK 6,587

Kasko explicitly excludes a free replacement car ('Erstatningsbil') while the car is repaired. The optional 'Bilafsavn' add-on (purchasable only with Kasko) instead pays cash compensation for loss of use: DKK 659/day (2023 base year, incl. VAT) for up to 28 days on theft, or a DKK 6,587 lump sum (2023 base year, incl. VAT) on total loss; if the car is stolen and later totalled, the higher amount is paid. Abroad, a rental car is provided under the SOS rescue-insurance benefit included in Kasko/Delkasko.

Driver/Passenger Personal Accident Cover

Optional

Personal-injury cover for the driver (Førerplads) and for the driver plus up to 8 passengers (Autoulykke) are separate, individually selectable coverages - not automatically included with Kasko and not required to be bought with it. Compensation is based on the sum insured stated on the policy; permanent-injury payout requires at least 5% impairment (mengrad), double compensation applies at 30% impairment or above, and if the insured is 75 or older at the time of the accident, compensation for death or permanent injury is based on 50% of the sum insured.

Key conditions

Driver age and experience limit

No minimum age or driving experience is required for cover, but the driver must hold a valid licence. An extra deductible of DKK 6,587 (2023 base year) applies if the car is lent to a driver under 26 who is not the policyholder, registered user, or their spouse/partner - unless 'Selvrisikosikring for ung fører' has been purchased. Children/grandchildren in the household can earn seniority via 'Superelitebarn', which must take effect by age 25 at the latest.

Repair network requirements

The policyholder generally chooses the repair shop, but GF Forsikring may decide the repair location and designate the parts supplier if it deems necessary. Repairs may not begin without GF Forsikring's or its assessor's prior agreement, and after theft the car is transported to an authorised workshop near the policyholder's registered address in Denmark.

Territorial scope

Kasko covers Denmark and the countries covered by the SOS 'Red Card' rescue scheme; the mandatory liability part covers Denmark and Green Card countries. GF Forsikring may change coverage abroad with 14 days' notice.

Anti-theft requirements

For theft of demounted equipment (original tools, spare parts, etc.), the items must have been kept in a properly locked room with evidence of forced entry; this requirement does not apply to charging equipment used to charge the car.

Claim notification deadline

Any claim must be reported to GF Forsikring immediately. Theft, robbery, or vandalism must also be reported to the police immediately. No repair or settlement agreement may be made without GF Forsikring's prior consent.

Deductible rules

A standard deductible applies to every liability and kasko/delkasko claim unless the policy states otherwise. Glass replacement carries a deductible of DKK 1,606 (2023 base year); no deductible applies if a windscreen is repaired rather than replaced. An extra deductible of DKK 6,587 applies for drivers under 26 (unless the young-driver excess waiver applies), and DKK 19,762 if the driver was over the alcohol/drug limit or had no valid licence. Legal-expenses cover under Kasko carries a deductible of 10% of costs (minimum DKK 2,500). A pro-rata reduction for exceeded mileage is capped at DKK 42,363 per claim.
