Insurance Company Vejle Brand of 1841 g/s
Vejle Brand
Vejle Brand is a motor casco insurance for the Denmark market with no online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
Vejle Brand advances the deductible amount directly to the repair shop or other recipient and later collects it from the policyholder; the insurer settles directly with repairers so the customer generally only pays their own deductible share.
Geographic scope
Denmark, the rest of Europe, and countries covered by the Green Card scheme
Casco cover applies in Europe and in countries outside Europe that are part of the Green Card scheme.
Unique selling points
- Fixed-premium pricing means the price of the casco policy does not rise after a claim, so a policyholder keeps their no-claims price step ('elitebilist') even after being unlucky.
- No deductible on damage to EV/hybrid charging cables or to a type-approved, owned/leased wallbox — including covering any deductible your home insurance would otherwise charge for the box.
- EV and hybrid battery damage from short-circuit or other sudden causes is covered for the first 8 years after first registration, up to 30,000 kr per claim.
- Standard factory-fitted accessories are covered with no monetary limit under casco, rather than the capped sub-limits many insurers apply.
- Legal expenses cover (retshjælp) up to 250,000 kr per case is automatically included once casco is purchased, with no separate premium.
Coverage limits
Own Damage / Comprehensive Cover
Covered
Casco covers any damage to the insured car, including damage from collisions, and pays either repair (restoring the car to the condition it was in before the damage) or a cash settlement, subject to the exclusions in §26 (e.g. wear and tear, frost damage). Standard factory-fitted accessories are covered without limit; non-standard fitted accessories are capped at 19,700 kr (2026).
Total Loss
Covered
If the car is a total loss, Vejle Brand pays cash compensation equal to the price of an equivalent car of the same age and condition. For cars that were factory-new or near-new (max. 5,000 km) when the policy started, damaged within the first year, with repair costs exceeding 50% of current new value, Vejle Brand pays new-value compensation instead. New-value rules do not apply to leased cars.
Partial Loss / Repair
Covered
Vejle Brand may have the car repaired to the condition it was in before the damage; betterment from replacing worn or corroded parts is paid by the policyholder, and any reduction in trade value is not compensated. If required parts or a necessary software update are not obtainable under normal conditions and at a normal price, Vejle Brand may settle in cash instead, based on the normal price of equivalent used parts or the normal update cost.
Theft and Robbery
Covered
Casco covers theft of, and robbery involving, the insured car. Equipment not permanently fitted to the car is covered against theft only if it was kept in a locked building and evidence of forced entry can be established. If Vejle Brand requires anti-theft security to be fitted, cover for theft is conditional on that security having been engaged at the time of the theft.
Glass Damage
Covered
Only in Udvidet glasforsikring
Damage limited to the car's glass (windows, headlamp/mirror glass, sunroof, etc.) is covered as part of general casco cover, subject to the deductible stated in the policy. The optional Udvidet Glas (Extended Glass) rider removes the deductible for glass repairs and reduces the deductible for glass replacement caused by a glass claim, with no impact on the no-claims price scale.
Natural Perils (Storm, Lightning, Flood)
Covered
Damage to the car from perils such as storm, lightning strike or flood is covered as part of the general 'any damage' casco cover; lightning strike is explicitly listed as a covered cause of damage to mechanical/electrical parts. Frost damage (frostsprængning) is explicitly excluded, as is weather-related wear such as scratches from windscreen wipers or corrosion.
Vandalism
Covered
Only in Udvidet kaskoforsikring
Vandalism damage to the car is covered under general casco cover ('any damage'), and hærværk is explicitly listed among the causes that trigger cover for otherwise-excluded mechanical/electrical damage. Under the optional Udvidet Kasko rider, damage from serial vandalism (hærværk against two or more cars in the same incident, confirmed by the police) carries no deductible and no impact on the no-claims price scale.
Roadside/Rescue Assistance
Covered
With casco cover, the policy automatically includes rescue insurance abroad (via SOS-International's Red Card) for private cars and vans with a permitted total weight of up to 3.5 tonnes, except when the trip's purpose is goods transport. In Denmark, casco also pays for transporting the car to the nearest repairer and for collecting it after theft, when the damage is covered and the transport is necessary.
Loss of Use Daily Allowance (Bilafsavn)
Optional
Only in Bilafsavn
Not a courtesy car: this is the optional Bilafsavn rider, purchasable only together with casco, which pays a fixed daily cash amount (stated in the policy) for loss of use of the car when the damage is covered by casco. Maximum 14 days for repairs carried out in Denmark, maximum 4 weeks for theft (plus up to 14 further days' repair allowance if the car is recovered), and a flat 5 days with no waiting period for total loss. The first day is always an unpaid waiting period.
Driver Accident Cover (Førerdækning)
Optional
Only in Førerdækning
Optional rider, purchasable together with liability and casco cover, that pays for the consequences of personal injury to the car's driver directly caused by a driving accident with the insured car. Covers permanent injury (mén), dental injury, pain and suffering, treatment and other costs, loss of earning capacity, lost income, loss of provider, and funeral assistance, calculated under the Danish Liability for Damages Act (Erstatningsansvarsloven); no fixed sums are stated, unlike the previous Førerulykkesforsikring product it replaced.
Key conditions
Driver age and experience limit
The T&C does not set a minimum driver age or experience requirement for casco cover. Instead, the price is set on a 12-step scale (trin 1 most expensive, trin 12/'elite' cheapest) based on years of claims-free driving in the policyholder's own name and any previous belastende claims.
Repair network requirements
Repairs and settlement of claims must be agreed with Vejle Brand in advance; Vejle Brand has the right to designate the repair shop, which then contacts the company's assessor (taksator). The policyholder may only carry out minor repairs without prior agreement if continuing to drive the car would be unlawful or unsafe and the repair cannot be postponed.
Territorial scope
Casco cover applies in Europe and in the countries outside Europe that are covered by the Green Card scheme.
Anti-theft requirements
If Vejle Brand requires anti-theft security on the car, cover for theft is conditional on that security having been engaged when the theft took place. Non-fixed equipment is only covered against theft if it was kept in a locked building showing evidence of forced entry.
Claim notification deadline
Any claim must be reported to Vejle Brand as soon as possible; theft, robbery and serial vandalism must also be reported to the police as soon as possible. The T&C does not specify a fixed number of days for notification.
Deductible rules
The agreed deductible is stated in the policy. Vejle Brand advances the deductible to the repairer or other party and later collects it from the policyholder to the extent the claim cannot be recovered from a liable third party. Only one deductible is charged if the same incident triggers both a liability and a casco claim. No deductible is charged for damage to EV/hybrid charging cables, or to a type-approved charging stand/box owned or leased by the policyholder (including any deductible the policyholder's home insurance would otherwise charge for the box), or where the damage caused Vejle Brand no cost.
