Direct payment

The insurer may either have the vehicle repaired or settle the claim with a cash payment. Cash settlements reflect the market value of a comparable vehicle of the same age and condition; if the vehicle is under one year old and repair costs exceed 50% of its new value, the owner is entitled to a brand-new replacement of the same make, type and model year.

Geographic scope

Denmark, with the insurer's core presence in the Vestjylland region

Covers Europe and countries outside Europe that participate in the green card scheme. Foreign cover, including rescue assistance abroad, may be changed or cancelled by the insurer with 14 days' notice without affecting the rest of the policy.

Unique selling points

  • Unlimited mileage: the premium stays the same no matter how far you drive.
  • A fixed, low kasko deductible that does not increase automatically after a claim.
  • Free emergency rescue assistance abroad (Rødt Kort/SOS International) included with kasko for vehicles up to 3,500 kg.
  • Factory-standard fitted equipment is covered without any value limit under kasko.
  • Children aged 17-25 can build up no-claims seniority under a parent's policy for use on their own future car insurance.

Coverage limits

Own damage (kasko cover)

Covered

Kasko covers any damage to the insured vehicle (including hybrid/EV battery, charging cables and owned/rented charging boxes) except the listed exclusions such as gradual wear, mechanical breakdown not caused by fire/collision/theft, or driving under the influence. Settlement is by repair or a cash payment equal to the market value of a comparable vehicle.

Source

Total loss settlement

Covered

If a kasko claim is so severe the vehicle is declared a total loss, or if a stolen vehicle is not found within 28 days, cash compensation equal to the market value of a comparable vehicle is paid and the damaged vehicle passes to the insurer. For private cars, if the damage occurs within the first year after first registration and the car was factory-new at inception, and repair costs would exceed 50% of the new value, the owner is entitled to a brand-new replacement vehicle instead.

Source

Partial damage / repair

Covered

The vehicle is repaired to the condition it was in before the damage. The insurer is entitled to designate the repairer. Extra costs of repairs carried out outside normal working hours and any resulting reduction in the vehicle's trade value are not covered, and betterment from replacing worn or corroded parts is paid by the policyholder.

Source

Theft and robbery

Covered

Kasko covers loss of the vehicle by theft or robbery. If the vehicle is not recovered within 28 days after the company received the claim notification, the claim is cash-settled at the market value of a comparable vehicle and the vehicle (if later found) belongs to the insurer.

Glass damage

Covered

Glass damage is already covered under base kasko as part of 'any damage' to the vehicle. Repair (not replacement) of stone-chip damage to glass carries no deductible. The optional 'Glas- og friskade' add-on does not add new scope but removes or reduces the deductible that would otherwise apply when glass is replaced.

Natural perils

Covered

Sudden natural damage (e.g. falling objects, fire, lightning) is covered under kasko's general 'any damage' cover. Damage from earthquakes and other natural catastrophes, war, civil unrest and NBCR/nuclear events is excluded unless it can be shown the damage was not caused directly or indirectly by these events, and gradual weather-related deterioration (corrosion, rust, frost damage) is excluded as ordinary wear and tear.

Source

Vandalism

Covered

Vandalism is covered under kasko's general 'any damage' cover, and a vandalism claim does not cause the no-claims premium step to worsen. The optional friskade add-on specifically removes the deductible for serial vandalism claims.

Roadside assistance / rescue abroad

Covered

When kasko is taken out, emergency rescue assistance abroad is included via the Rødt Kort (red card)/SOS International scheme for vehicles up to 3,500 kg total weight, per the insurer's separate rescue-abroad terms. This foreign cover, including rescue, may be changed or cancelled by the company with 14 days' notice. Domestic roadside assistance ('Autohjælp') for everyday breakdowns in Denmark is a separate, optional paid add-on, not included by default.

Loss of use compensation (Bilafsavn)

DKK 397

Optional add-on (applies only if shown on the policy) paying a fixed daily cash indemnity of 397 DKK (2023 index) for each day the car cannot be used due to theft/robbery (up to 28 days total) or total loss (up to 10 days total), rather than providing a substitute vehicle.

Driver accident cover (Førerpladsdækning)

Optional

Optional add-on covering injury to the driver in a single-vehicle accident, including sick pay, compensation for permanent injury, loss of earning capacity and lost wages. Described on the insurer's product page; not itemised in the reviewed T&C excerpt.

Key conditions

Driver age and experience limit

The reviewed terms set no minimum driver age or driving-experience requirement for kasko cover. Children of the policyholder aged 17-25 (living at home or away) can accrue one year of no-claims seniority for each year they hold a valid licence and drive claim-free, which can later be used to obtain lower rates on their own policy with Vestjylland Forsikring.

Repair network requirements

The insurer is entitled to designate the repairer used for kasko claims. Extra costs from repairs carried out outside normal working hours and any resulting loss in the vehicle's trade value are not covered, and any betterment from replacing worn or corroded parts is paid by the policyholder.

Territorial scope

Cover applies in Europe and in countries outside Europe that participate in the green card scheme. Foreign cover, including rescue assistance abroad, may be changed or cancelled by the company with 14 days' notice, and does not apply if a separate insurance for driving abroad has been taken out.

Anti-theft requirements

No specific anti-theft device or security requirement is stated in the reviewed terms. If the vehicle itself is stolen, the policyholder must, in addition to notifying the insurer, report it to the police immediately.

Claim notification deadline

Damage or an incident that may lead to a claim must be reported to the insurer immediately, with as complete information as possible. Theft of the vehicle itself must also be reported to the police immediately. A stolen vehicle not recovered within 28 days of the insurer receiving the claim notification is cash-settled.

Deductible rules

The deductible is stated on the policy and is index-linked together with the premium; current kasko deductible figures cited by the insurer range from approximately 3,853 to 3,976 DKK depending on the specific quote/vehicle, and this deductible does not increase after a claim. Liability cover carries a zero deductible. No deductible applies to repair (not replacement) of stone-chip glass damage, to damage caused while the vehicle was with a repairer/dealer covered by the policy, or to claims covered solely by the foreign rescue cover. The optional friskade add-on removes or reduces the deductible for other listed perils (fire, theft, robbery, serial vandalism, animal collision, parking damage by an unknown party, rodent damage).
