Direct payment

If the policyholder chooses their own repair shop, Balcia pays the compensation directly to that workshop for the repair costs invoiced, minus the deductible, capped at 30% of the repair estimate prepared by Balcia's own chosen workshop.

Geographic scope

Estonia

Policyholder selects one of three territorial coverage zones: Baltic States, Europe, or Europe plus CIS countries (up to the 50° E meridian).

Unique selling points

  • Premiums are calculated with an AI-based dynamic pricing tool that factors in individual driving behaviour and data.
  • Get an online quote in about 90 seconds and complete the policy instantly in the Balcia app.
  • Casco premiums can be paid in monthly instalments with no extra cost or price increase.
  • Zero deductible applies to the first glass-damage claim, animal collisions, and key-related incidents.
  • A replacement vehicle is provided for up to 30 days while the car is repaired, stolen, or written off.

Coverage limits

Own damage

100% of insured sum

Covers sudden and unforeseen external damage to the insured vehicle, including collisions, tipping over, falling objects, water damage, and other accidental damage; the payout can never exceed the insured sum stated in the policy.

Source

Total loss

100% of insured sum

Applies when repair costs exceed 70% of the vehicle's market value immediately before the loss (Hävimine); compensation is then based on market value or new value depending on the insured-sum basis chosen, capped at the insured sum.

Source

Partial loss / repair

100% of insured sum

Repair costs needed to restore the vehicle to its condition immediately before the loss are compensated, either paid directly to the repair shop or reimbursed to the policyholder; VAT is included in the payout only if stated on the policy and the insured cannot reclaim it.

Source

Theft / robbery

Covered

Covers theft or robbery of the insured vehicle, including incidents involving violence or threat of violence; a stolen seasonal tyre/rim set is covered up to €10,000, and compensation is based on market or new value depending on the insured-sum basis.

Source

Glass damage

Covered

Covers breakage of the vehicle's windows, sunroof or panoramic roof glass when this is the only damage caused by the event; per the FAQ, the first glass-damage claim within a policy period carries a 0% deductible.

Source

Natural perils

Covered

Covers damage caused by fire, natural disasters (storm, flood, lightning strike and hail, and objects falling as a result of these) and other insured external events.

Source

Vandalism

Covered

Covers deliberate damage or destruction of the insured vehicle caused by a third party (Vandalism), as part of the general damage cover.

Source

Key conditions

Driver age and experience limit

No specific minimum driver age or experience is stated; the driver must simply hold a valid licence for the vehicle's category, otherwise Balcia can refuse the claim.

Repair network requirements

The insured may choose their own repair shop, but the payout is then capped at 30% of the repair estimate prepared by Balcia's chosen workshop; an optional add-on allows repair at the manufacturer's authorised dealer even after the general warranty ends.

Territorial scope

The policyholder chooses one of three territorial coverage zones: Baltic States, Europe, or Europe plus CIS countries (up to the 50° E meridian).

Anti-theft requirements

After a theft the insured must hand over all key sets and anti-theft device remote controls issued with the vehicle; if locks/immobiliser codes were not changed or the vehicle was not kept in a secured car park or locked garage, Balcia may cut the payout by up to 50%.

Claim notification deadline

No fixed number of days is specified; the policyholder must contact Balcia and the relevant authority (police, medical facility, rescue service) as soon as possible, and delayed notification that prevents the loss from being assessed can lead to refusal of the claim.

Deductible rules

The deductible is waived when a liable third party's MTPL insurance covers the damage, and for lost/stolen keys and personal belongings; for theft or robbery in CIS territory the deductible is doubled (minimum 20% of the payout); no separate deductible applies to repairs made under the authorised-dealer add-on. According to the FAQ, collisions with animals also carry no deductible.
