Coverage limits

Medical expenses

Medical assistance insurance covering treatment and transport costs from sudden illness or accident abroad is always included by default in If travel insurance; the policyholder selects the sum insured, and If recommends choosing either 300,000 or 650,000 EUR.

Source

Emergency medical treatment

Covered

Provides faster and more effective medical care abroad in case of sudden illness or injury; included by default with medical assistance insurance.

Source

Hospitalization

Covered

Inpatient hospital treatment costs are covered within the chosen medical assistance sum insured; costs for a travel companion's accommodation while the insured is hospitalized abroad may also be reimbursed under certain conditions.

Source

Outpatient treatment

Covered

Outpatient medical treatment costs are covered within the chosen medical assistance sum insured, subject to the limits set out in the terms and conditions.

Source

Emergency dental treatment

€192

Emergency dental treatment costs are reimbursed up to a combined maximum of 192 EUR for all claims during the insurance period.

Source

Medical transport

Covered

If the insured is repatriated, the additional transport and accommodation costs of a companion travelling with them are reimbursed from the medical assistance insurance, regardless of whether the companion was insured.

Source

Medical evacuation

Covered

In case of evacuation, unused prepaid service costs and reasonable additional transport and accommodation costs incurred abroad in returning to Estonia within 14 days of the triggering event are reimbursed.

Source

Repatriation Of Remains

Covered

Repatriation is defined as transporting a sick or injured insured person to Estonia, transporting the insured's body to Estonia, or (if cremated abroad) transporting the urn with ashes to Estonia. Under the medical assistance insurance event, If covers the unavoidable local transport costs and the repatriation costs or burial costs abroad. The insured's body transport to Estonia, burial or cremation abroad costs are covered regardless of cause of death, except in case of suicide or if the insured's death was caused by or contributed to by the insured's own intoxication. These costs are paid out of the insured's chosen medical assistance sum insured (e.g. 100,000 / 300,000 / 650,000 EUR options) rather than being subject to a separate standalone limit.

Source

Search & rescue

Conditional

If's Estonian travel insurance terms (TR 20071 / TT series) do not define a separate, distinctly named 'search and rescue' coverage with its own sum insured. Instead, under a medical assistance insurance event, If covers the unavoidable local transport costs associated with the event, alongside repatriation or burial costs abroad. These emergency/rescue-type transport costs are paid out of the insured's overall medical assistance sum insured rather than under a dedicated search-and-rescue limit.
