Luko was a French insurtech founded in December 2016 that pioneered 100% online, paperless home insurance for tenants and owners in France, later expanding into PNO, secondary-residence, building (MRI), loan-protection and electric-scooter insurance. After financial difficulties and a 2023 safeguard/receivership procedure, Luko was acquired by Allianz Direct in January 2024 and now operates as 'Luko by Allianz Direct', the French commercial brand of Allianz Direct combining Luko, Allianz Voyage (ex-Mondial Assistance), Friday and, since January 2026, Eurofil, offering home, travel and (increasingly) auto insurance online.

Regulatory updates
Luko went through an accelerated safeguard procedure in June 2023 (debt of €45 million) and was placed into court-ordered receivership (redressement judiciaire) by the Bobigny commercial court in November 2023 after a planned takeover by British insurer Admiral fell through. In January 2024, Luko's home-insurance business was taken over by Allianz Direct, and the brand became 'Luko by Allianz Direct', operated by Allianz Direct Versicherungs-AG's French branch, registered with the ACPR. Luko Insurance AG (ex-Coya) remains registered with the ACPR since March 2022 under freedom-to-provide-services, while Luko Cover SAS remains registered with ORIAS as an insurance broker since April 2018. Since January 2026, Eurofil's motor and home insurance activities have also been integrated into Luko by Allianz Direct.
