ARAG SE is supervised by BaFin under the German Insurance Supervision Act (VAG). In BaFin's 2024 complaints statistics, ARAG SE recorded the highest complaint ratio among legal expenses insurers, with 87 complaints against roughly 1.9 million contracts (a ratio of 4.6 per 100,000 contracts), the highest in the sector for the second year running. The group has also worked with BaFin on internal Solvency II risk models and previously obtained BaFin approval (Inhaberkontrollverfahren) for the 2017 sale of its life insurance subsidiary to the Frankfurter Leben Group.
