Liability sum for property and financial damage

Defence against unfounded liability claims
Covered
If third-party claims are unfounded, the insurer defends against them at its own cost, including claims that are unfounded only as to amount. No separate monetary sublimit is stated for this defence cost.
Green Card / International Insurance Certificate
Covered
If issued, the international insurance card (Green Card) extends MTPL cover to the non-European countries listed on it, as long as the country name is not struck out.
Roadside assistance package (Schutzbrief)
Optional
Breakdown and accident assistance (Autoschutzbrief) is offered as a paid optional add-on in all three tariffs (Komfort M, L, XL), not included by default.
Driver protection (Fahrerschutz)
Optional
Fahrerschutz covers the driver's own bodily harm consequences (e.g. incapacity to work, reduced earning capacity from an accident) independent of fault; offered as a paid optional add-on in all three tariffs.
Passenger accident cover (Insassenunfall)
Optional
Family/occupant accident protection paying a death or disability benefit for insured occupants; offered as a paid optional add-on in all three tariffs.
Key conditions
Territorial scope
Cover applies within the geographic borders of Europe and the non-European territories of EU member states; the insurer may agree extensions or restrictions.
Green card rules
Where an International Insurance Card (Green Card) has been issued, cover extends to the listed non-European countries unless the country name has been struck out.
Driver restrictions
The car may only be used by an authorized driver holding the necessary driving licence; the policyholder, holder or owner must not knowingly allow use by an unauthorized or unlicensed driver.
Claim notification deadline
Any event that could lead to a claim must be reported to the insurer within one week; claims reported without delay to the 24-hour accident/breakdown hotline satisfy this for the whole motor policy.
Bonus-malus rules
Premium is based on a no-claims discount (SF-Klasse) system that upgrades one class per claim-free calendar year and downgrades according to fixed tables depending on the number of claims reported in a year.
