Direct payment

Yes - direct payment to injured third parties

Geographic scope

Germany

Cover applies within the geographical borders of Europe and the non-European territories belonging to the EU, at least to the extent legally required in the country visited; a Green Card, where issued, extends cover to additional listed non-European countries.

Unique selling points

  • Future policy improvements automatically extend to existing mobil komfort contracts at no additional premium (Leistungsversprechen).
  • mobil komfort covers damage the insured vehicle causes to the policyholder's own property up to 100,000 EUR per year, a first-party 'Eigenschäden' extension many competitors exclude entirely.
  • The Mallorca-Police in mobil komfort protects driving foreign rental or borrowed cars almost worldwide, not just within Europe as in most standard policies.
  • mobil komfort actively pursues the policyholder's own damages claim against the foreign liable insurer after an accident abroad, via the dedicated Schadenersatzversicherung bei Auslandsreisen.
  • A second vehicle in the mobil komfort line can start as high as SF-Klasse 10, well above the standard SF-Klasse 1/2 second-car discount offered elsewhere.

Coverage limits

Bodily injury liability

Not established from the insurer's documents

Liability cover responds within a combined lump-sum ('Pauschal-Deckung') of 100 million EUR per claim event, shared across bodily injury, property damage and pure financial loss; within that pool, bodily injury is sub-limited to 15 million EUR per injured person. Identical in mobil komfort and mobil kompakt.

Property damage liability

Not established from the insurer's documents

Covered within the same 100 million EUR combined lump-sum pool described for bodily injury (shared for bodily injury, property damage and pure financial loss). In mobil kompakt, occupants of a co-insured trailer are covered only up to the statutory minimum sums instead of the contractual sums (A.1.3.2); mobil komfort has no such exception.

Defence against unfounded claims

Not established from the insurer's documents

The insurer defends unfounded or partly unfounded third-party claims at its own cost and holds full authority to settle or resist claims in the policyholder's name; in litigation the insurer conducts the defence and may appoint counsel on the policyholder's behalf. No separate sum insured is stated for this defence-cost cover.

International Motor Insurance Card (Green Card)

Not established from the insurer's documents

If the Green Card has been issued, liability cover extends to the non-European countries listed on it, provided the country name is not crossed out; the extent of cover otherwise follows the standard territorial rule.

Roadside/breakdown assistance (Schutzbrief)

Not established from the insurer's documents

The Schutzbrief provides breakdown and accident assistance abroad and domestically (recovery, towing, key/lock-out help, replacement vehicle or reimbursed onward/return travel, overnight costs, medical repatriation, etc.) with individual service sub-limits (e.g. towing/recovery for trucks and caravans capped between 200 and 2,500 EUR). It can be added to the MTPL contract for an extra premium, or is included as part of the 'Mobilitätsgarantie' module bundled with fully comprehensive (Vollkasko) cover.

Driver accident cover (Fahrerschutzversicherung)

Not established from the insurer's documents

Optional cover (extra premium, part of the MTPL contract) compensating the authorised driver's own personal injury as if a third party were liable. Sums differ by tariff: mobil kompakt – pain and suffering up to 100,000 EUR, loss of earnings up to 2,000 EUR/month, maintenance claims up to 1,500 EUR/month, household help up to 500 EUR/month, disability-adapted conversions up to 100,000 EUR, other increased needs up to 1,000 EUR/month; mobil komfort – pain and suffering up to 200,000 EUR, loss of earnings up to 4,000 EUR/month, maintenance claims up to 3,000 EUR/month, household help up to 1,000 EUR/month, disability-adapted conversions up to 200,000 EUR, other increased needs up to 2,000 EUR/month. Passenger/occupant accident cover (Kfz-Unfallversicherung)

Not established from the insurer's documents

Optional, legally separate accident insurance for occupants, sold either on a lump-sum basis per vehicle (Pauschalsystem) or per seat (Platzsystem Plus); the actual sums insured for invalidity and death are individually agreed and shown on the policy schedule, not fixed in the T&Cs. mobil komfort additionally includes a hospital daily allowance (Krankenhaustagegeld, up to 2 years) and extends cover to accidents while driving or riding in a privately used, non-owned car, which mobil kompakt does not offer.

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Cover applies within the geographical borders of Europe and the non-European territories belonging to the EU, at least to the extent legally required in the country visited (or the German contract scope if higher).

Green card rules

If issued, the Green Card extends liability cover to the non-European countries listed on it, unless the country name is crossed out; extent of cover follows the standard territorial rule.

Driver restrictions

The vehicle may only be used by an authorised driver holding the required driving licence; if the driver is impaired by alcohol or other intoxicants to a degree that safe control is not possible, cover is void for that use, and the policyholder, holder or owner must not knowingly allow such a driver to use the vehicle.

Claim notification deadline

Any loss event that may trigger a claim must be reported within one week; out-of-court claims first asserted against the policyholder must be reported within one week of assertion, and death of an insured person under the accident cover must be reported within 48 hours.

Bonus-malus rules

Premiums follow a no-claims discount (SF-Klasse) system based on claims history, with annual re-rating and up-/down-grading tables in Annex 1, plus an optional 'Rabattschutz Top' module that protects the current SF-Klasse against a single claim if the contract is already rated at least SF-Klasse 4.
