Unique selling points

  • AutoPlus offers up to 100 million EUR combined liability cover with a 15 million EUR per-person sub-limit, well above statutory minimums.

Defence against unfounded third-party claims

Not established from the insurer's documents

The insurer indemnifies justified claims in cash and defends unjustified claims (including claims unjustified as to amount) against the policyholder at its own cost, and is authorised to settle or contest claims on the policyholder's behalf. No separate legal-defence sum is stated; this is not declared unlimited in the source.

Key conditions

Territorial scope

MTPL cover applies within the geographical borders of Europe and the non-European EU territories; further extended to non-European countries listed on an issued Green Card.

Green card rules

Where an international insurance card (Green Card) has been handed out, cover extends to the non-European countries named on it that are not crossed out; the scope of cover follows at least the German contractual level.

Driver restrictions

The vehicle may only be used by a driver authorised by, and with the knowledge and consent of, the person entitled to dispose of it, and only by a driver holding the licence required for that vehicle class; the policyholder, keeper or owner must not knowingly permit use by an unauthorised or unlicensed driver.

Claim notification deadline

Any event that could result in a claim must be reported to the insurer within one week; immediate notification to the insurer's accident/breakdown hotline satisfies this deadline for the whole motor policy.

Bonus-malus rules

Premiums follow an annual no-claims class (SF-Klasse) system based on the claims history tables in Annex 1 of the T&Cs. AutoBasis applies its own, stricter downgrading table after a claim (Annex to the AutoBasis particulars) than the standard AKB table used for AutoPlus.
