Covers material damage to the insured vehicle caused by collision, impact, skidding, overturning, or falling off a cliff, regardless of fault, as well as damage sustained during transport exclusively by ship, train, or aircraft. The insured sum equals the current commercial value of the vehicle (per iAD tables). A deductible of €500 to €2,000 applies per claim; a 5% depreciation deductible per year over 5 years applies (max 40%) when new spare parts are used for a vehicle older than 5 years. Total Loss

Conditional

Total loss (economically or technically unrepairable vehicle) is handled under the Own Damages cover (Own Damages Cars tier) and also under Total Theft (Additional and Own Damages Cars tiers). Indemnity is based on the vehicle's current commercial value at the time of loss per iAD tables, net of any applicable depreciation deductible. For theft-based total loss, the 60-day non-recovery period must elapse before settlement.

Key conditions

Driver age and experience limit

Minimum driver age is 18 years. Drivers under 25 must be declared at policy inception; an additional premium applies. If an undeclared under-25 driver causes an accident, optional coverages are forfeited and for third-party liability a penalty of 30% of the indemnity paid to the injured party may be claimed back from the insured.

Repair network requirements

The insured may choose any garage. If the garage accepts authorisation, HD pays it directly; otherwise, the insured pays and is reimbursed upon presentation of original invoices. At HD partner garages, a lower deductible (10%) applies compared to non-partner garages (25%) for glass breakage with OEM parts. Pre-repair inspection by an HD appraiser is mandatory; repairing without inspection may result in loss of indemnity entitlement.

Territorial scope

All optional/casco coverages are valid only within Greek territory. Compulsory MTPL covers Greece, EU member states, EEA countries, and countries whose National Bureaux apply the Consolidated Agreement Section III. Roadside Assistance (Greece–Europe option) extends to European Turkey and all European countries including the Balkans, excluding former Soviet Union states.

Anti-theft requirements

For total theft claims, the insured must report the theft to the police immediately and file a formal complaint. All factory keys must be surrendered upon settlement. A certificate of non-recovery from the police is required after 60 days. A declaration from the tax authority (ΔΟΥ) confirming road-tax payment and that the vehicle was declared in prior income tax returns is also required.

Claim notification deadline

Damage must be reported within 7 days of the incident (by calling the 24/7 emergency line 212 222 9900). A late-report penalty of 30% of the third-party indemnity may apply. For natural perils/phenomena, damage must be reported within 8 days. For partial theft, the insured must present a police theft declaration. Pre-repair appraiser inspection by HD is mandatory.

Deductible rules

Own Damages: deductible €500–€2,000 per claim (exact amount stated in the policy schedule). Vehicles over 5 years old: additional depreciation deductible of 5% per year beyond 5 years (max 40%) when new spare parts are used. The deductible can be reduced by 50% at HD partner garages when certain conditions are met (Natural Phenomena, Partial Theft, Malicious Acts or Own Damages cover is triggered and estimated indemnity exceeds the deductible). Natural Phenomena & Hail: €300 deductible (not applicable under Natural Disasters mandatory cover). Hail: additional sub-cap of €2,000. Partial Theft: €75 deductible. Malicious Acts: €300 deductible. Glass (non-partner garage or OEM parts): 25% of total indemnity.
