Not included in the Pilote Eco 101 base product; must be purchased separately.
Green Card (International Motor Insurance Certificate)
Conditional
The compulsory MTPL coverage is valid within Greece and in all countries under PD 237/86 (standard Green Card countries). Extension to countries outside this scope requires a special written certificate from the Company following a written request by the policyholder and payment of additional premium. Once a Green Card has been issued for foreign coverage, the policy cannot be cancelled for its duration.
Roadside Assistance (Οδική Βοήθεια)
Optional
Roadside assistance is available as an optional add-on to the Pilote Eco 101 product. The IPID states that additional coverages such as roadside assistance 'may also be included'. The General Terms (Appendix 2) describe comprehensive roadside assistance coverage including on-site repair, towing, vehicle storage, spare parts dispatch, tyre change, vehicle repatriation from abroad (if repair >3 working days), replacement vehicle (up to 3 days when >50km from home and >8 working hours repair time), and hotel accommodation (up to €80/person/night, max 3 nights). Coverage available 24/7, 365 days, across Greece, EU member states, and other European countries including Albania, Mediterranean Middle East, North Africa, Turkey and occupied Cyprus.
Driver Personal Accident (Ασφάλιση Προσωπικού Ατυχήματος Οδηγού)
Optional
Personal accident cover for the driver and/or owner of the insured vehicle is an optional coverage (Κεφάλαιο Δ, Άρθρο 12 of the General Terms). Covers death, permanent total disability, permanent partial disability, and hospitalisation expenses resulting exclusively from a road traffic accident. Driver must be aged 18-70. Coverage amount (capital) is specified in the policy schedule. Not included in the Pilote Eco 101 base product.
Passenger Personal Accident
Optional
Passenger accident coverage is part of the optional Personal Accident insurance (Κεφάλαιο Δ, Άρθρο 12). In case of a group accident where the owner and co-owners are co-passengers, the death and permanent disability capital doubles and is split equally among covered victims. Not included in the Pilote Eco 101 base product.
Key conditions
Territorial scope
Compulsory MTPL coverage is valid within Greece and in all countries specified by law (PD 237/86). For all other countries, a special written certificate from the Company is required following a written request by the policyholder and payment of additional premium. Optional coverages and any provided extensions of civil liability are valid exclusively within Greece.
Green card rules
Standard Green Card coverage is included for countries under PD 237/86. Extension to non-Green Card countries requires a written request and additional premium. While a Green Card is in force for foreign coverage, the insurance policy cannot be cancelled.
Driver restrictions
Coverage requires the driver to hold a valid driving licence for the relevant vehicle category. If the vehicle is driven by a person under 23 years of age (calculated from 1 January of birth year) or by a person who has held a driving licence for less than 12 months, a young driver surcharge applies. Failure to notify the Company of such a driver and pay the required surcharge results in a 100% annual premium penalty payable within 10 days of the accident if a claim occurs.
Claim notification deadline
In the event of a loss, the policyholder and/or insured must notify the Company in writing within 8 working days from when the loss event became known to them, providing all necessary information, documents and evidence relating to the circumstances and consequences of the loss.
Bonus-malus rules
The Company maintains a premium category scale (categories 2 to 20). Premiums for MTPL and own-damage coverages are adjusted after each 12-month policy period. Each uninterrupted 12-month period without a claim results in a drop of one category for the next period; the minimum category is 2. Each claim during a 12-month period results in an increase of two categories for the next period; the maximum category is 20. An optional Bonus/Malus Protection add-on (Άρθρο 10, Κεφάλαιο Δ) is available: for an additional premium, the bonus/malus category is not affected by the first two claims within any 12-month period.
