Alfa Vienna Insurance Group Biztosító Zrt.
Alfa
Alfa is a motor casco insurance for the Hungary market with online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
The insurer's service is limited exclusively to repair, restoration or replacement carried out in Hungary, and is paid in the legal domestic currency; reimbursement is based on authorized brand-service labor rates when repair is verifiably carried out at an authorized dealer service.
Geographic scope
Europe, including the entire territory of Turkey
Does not extend to the successor states of the former Soviet Union, except Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine.
Unique selling points
- If you lose your job, Alfa credits three months of your Casco premium instead of cancelling your cover.
- Windscreen replacement can be fully deductible-free, a cost many competitors charge separately for.
- Personal belongings locked inside the car or its boot are protected against breakage, fire and theft as a built-in optional module.
- The 'Active claims handling' service lets Alfa settle your vehicle's damage directly and recover the cost from the at-fault driver's insurer on your behalf, speeding up payout.
- A 24/7 Alfa Assistance helpline provides roadside support across Hungary and much of Europe, including on-site repair, towing, replacement car and hotel costs.
Coverage limits
Collision / own damage (töréskár)
Covered
Covers any sudden external impact causing breakage or other damage to the insured vehicle; compensation is based on the vehicle's actual cash value (káridőponti érték) at the time of the claim, not a fixed sum insured, up to the current market value of a comparable used vehicle in Hungary.
Total loss compensation
Covered
If repair cost reaches 70% or more of the vehicle's current value (or the vehicle's frame is unrepairable), the insurer pays the current value minus salvage value; the wreck remains the property of the insured and is not required to be surrendered.
Partial damage repair
Covered
If repair cost is below 70% of the vehicle's current value, the insurer covers repair costs up to authorized-service labor rates, or replacement value of non-repairable parts, minus the applicable deductible.
Theft and robbery
HUF 250,000
Sold as an additional (kiegészítő) cover, not part of the three mandatory base elements. Covers theft or robbery of the properly locked vehicle with active anti-theft devices, or theft of parts/accessories without theft of the whole vehicle. Compensation for external accessories theft is capped at HUF 250,000 per event; non-original electroacoustic equipment theft capped at HUF 150,000 per event; total theft is compensated at the vehicle's current value.
Glass breakage (üvegkár)
Covered
One of the three mandatory base elements (törés, elemi/tűz, üveg). Covers breakage/cracking of the vehicle's window glass caused by a sudden external impact without other bodywork damage. Standard deductible is the policy's % deductible, minimum HUF 30,000 per claim on replacement; no deductible is applied if a non-OEM windscreen is used and the invoice does not exceed 65% of the OEM part/material cost. A separate optional add-on (2.14) removes the deductible entirely.
Elemental and fire damage
Covered
One of the three mandatory base elements. Covers lightning strike, earthquake, landslide, rockfall/ground collapse, natural cavity or underground structure collapse, storm, cloudburst, flood (except floodplain areas), other water inundation, hail, avalanche and snow pressure, as well as fire, self-ignition and explosion caused by electrical malfunction or external fire spread.
Malicious damage / attempted break-in
Covered
There is no separately named 'vandalism' peril, but the mandatory töréskár (collision/damage) element explicitly covers damage caused by unauthorized entry or attempted theft on a properly locked vehicle; damage from a lock forced during an attempted theft (without other bodywork damage) is compensated within the ordinary damage cover, and the lopáskár add-on expressly excludes theft-related vandalism/breakage since it is handled under this base element.
Roadside / vehicle assistance (Alfa Assistance)
HUF 50,000
Optional add-on with a 24/7 hotline (+36-1-249-0734). Per-event domestic (HUF) / foreign (EUR) limits: on-site repair HUF 20,000 / EUR 200; towing & storage HUF 50,000 / EUR 200; emergency onward transport by bus/train HUF 30,000 / EUR 200; hotel HUF 10,000 per night (max 3) / EUR 150 per night (max 3); replacement car HUF 14,500/day (max 3 days) / EUR 150/day (max 3 days); lock-out/key replacement HUF 20,000 / EUR 150. Territorial scope covers Hungary plus most of Europe including Turkey's European territory.
Replacement/rental vehicle
HUF 100,000
Optional add-on. When a covered claim triggers the insurer's liability, a rental car of similar category may be used from the day after claim notification for the time optimally needed for repair, up to 7 days; maximum reimbursement per event is HUF 100,000 (Appendix 3.5); fuel and other incidental costs are excluded.
Driver/passenger accident benefit
HUF 5,000 – HUF 1,500,000
Optional add-on covering the driver and all passengers. Fixed per-person benefits (Appendix 3.4): accidental death HUF 500,000; permanent total disability HUF 750,000 (graded by disability % per a fixed injury table); bone fracture or ≥28 days temporary incapacity HUF 5,000; hospitalization beyond 8 days due to accident HUF 10,000. All amounts may be increased up to double via endorsement, giving a maximum of HUF 1,500,000 for permanent total disability. No deductible applies to this benefit.
Key conditions
Driver age and experience limit
There is no absolute minimum driver age to be covered, but if at the time of the claim the vehicle was driven by a person under 25 (for corporate policyholders) who is not the policyholder/insured, the applied deductible is doubled (or increased by 10 percentage points), except for theft, elemental/fire and glass claims.
Repair network requirements
The insurer only provides service for repair, restoration or replacement carried out in Hungary; reimbursement is calculated using authorized brand-service labor rates when repair is verifiably performed at an authorized dealer workshop.
Territorial scope
Valid throughout Europe, including the entire territory of Turkey; excludes the successor states of the former Soviet Union except Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine.
Anti-theft requirements
The vehicle is not considered properly locked if it can be opened without its key/remote/code card, if any lock cylinder is missing or damaged so the lock can be operated without the key, if the windows are not closed, or if the insurer-prescribed anti-theft device (immobilizer, alarm) was not switched on or not functional.
Claim notification deadline
The insurance event must be reported to the insurer as soon as possible, but no later than 5 days from becoming aware of it, and the report must always also be recorded in writing.
Deductible rules
A per-claim deductible (as stated on the policy) applies to all elements except accident benefits; the deductible is doubled (or increased by 10 percentage points) if the insurer already paid out on at least two other claims in the current period, or a driver under 25 (corporate case) was at the wheel, or a collision occurred while speeding by at least 30% over the local limit — except for theft, elemental/fire and glass claims, where no such multiplier applies.
