K&H Insurance Private Limited Company
K&H
K&H is a motor casco insurance for the Hungary market with online purchase and limited assistance availability.
Direct payment
Repair costs are generally reimbursed against invoices, with the parties able to agree that the insurer pays based on Audatex/Autovista/DAT calculation systems; for the optional K&H cascoszerviz 24 assistance service the insurer or its assistance partner (Europ Assistance Magyarország Kft.) pays the towing/service partner directly.
Geographic scope
Geographic territory of Europe, as explicitly listed in the policy conditions
Covers events in Albania, Andorra, England, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Northern Ireland, Estonia, Belarus, Finland, France, Greece, the Netherlands, Croatia, Ireland, Iceland, Poland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, Hungary, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Germany, Norway, Italy, Russia (European part up to the Ural mountains/river and the Caspian Sea), Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey (European part up to the Bosphorus/Dardanelles/Sea of Marmara), Ukraine, Vatican and Wales. Unique selling points
- The sum insured automatically reinstates after a claim within the same insurance period, at no extra premium.
- No deductible is applied to elemental-damage claims, nor to vehicle rescue, transport and storage costs.
- Cover explicitly extends to EV/PHEV drive batteries, the original charging cable and a permitted home wallbox charging unit.
- Freely customisable deductible (10% or 20%, with a minimum of HUF 50,000-400,000), letting customers tailor cover to their budget.
- Stackable discounts of up to roughly 18% for annual, bank-linked payment combined with holding another K&H policy or current account.
Coverage limits
Own damage (base sum insured)
Covered
The insurer's maximum liability equals the sum insured, which is determined by the vehicle's brand-new gross value; there is no fixed policy-wide limit as it is vehicle-specific and adjusts automatically after a claim without extra premium.
Total loss settlement
Covered
A vehicle is classified as a total loss if the repair cost reaches or exceeds 80% of its domestic market value at the time of loss, or if the entire vehicle is stolen; settlement is based on the Autovista domestic market value minus salvage value. Within one year of first registration, the first owner is reimbursed up to the original purchase price shown on the invoice (capped at the Autovista new value).
Repairable (partial) damage
Covered
Repairable damage is settled at the domestic average repair cost, typically calculated with the Audatex (or Autovista/DAT) system for cars and vans up to 3,500 kg; betterment is deducted only for exhaust system parts, batteries and tyres, and on full repainting.
Theft and robbery
Optional
Only in törés és elemi kár (alap), lopáskár (választható kiegészítés)
Theft (including robbery and unauthorised use, plus theft of parts/accessories and attempted-theft vandalism damage) is a separately selectable event alongside the base collision and elemental damage cover; requires the vehicle to be properly locked at the time of the event. Not covered if selected only as collision+elemental damage.
Windscreen/window glass damage
Covered
Breakage of the vehicle's windscreen, side or rear windows falls under the base collision cover; replacement is only paid if the broken glass cannot legally be repaired. If damage is limited exclusively to glass (self-contained glass claim), only the chosen percentage deductible (not the minimum forint amount) is deducted, except for buses.
Elemental damage (fire, storm, flood, etc.)
Covered
Base cover for fire, explosion, lightning, windstorm of at least 54 km/h, earthquake of at least EMS-5, landslide, rockfall/collapse of natural or artificial cavities, cloudburst, flood, inland inundation, hail and snow-load damage; no deductible is applied to elemental-damage claims.
Malicious damage by third parties / rodent damage
Covered
The definition of collision damage explicitly includes intentional damage caused by a third party (vandalism) as well as damage caused by rodents or predators (e.g. wires gnawed by mice or martens) in the engine or passenger compartment.
Vehicle rescue, transport and storage costs
HUF 800,000
Only in alapfedezet (mentés-szállítás-tárolás), K&H cascoszerviz 24 (választható kiegészítő)
As part of the base cover, the insurer reimburses verified and justified costs of rescuing, transporting and storing the damaged vehicle after a Hungarian claim event (and up to a pre-agreed amount abroad), capped at HUF 800,000 per claim, without any deductible. The optional K&H cascoszerviz 24 rider adds a 24/7 organised roadside-assistance service (towing, temporary storage up to 3 days, interpreting, return/onward travel) on top of this base cover.
Replacement vehicle
Excluded
The K&H cascoszerviz 24 assistance service can only organise a rental car ('bérautó szervezés') on a cost-reimbursement basis, i.e. the full cost is borne by the policyholder; the T&C do not provide any insured benefit for a replacement/courtesy vehicle.
Accident insurance for driver and occupants
HUF 7,000 – HUF 3,500,000
Optional K&H balesetbiztosítás add-on for the driver and occupants of the insured vehicle: HUF 700,000 for accidental death, HUF 1,400,000 for 100% permanent disability (proportionally reduced for lower disability grades, minimum HUF 7,000 for 1-10%), and HUF 7,000 for temporary injury — each amount can be multiplied by the policyholder up to 2.5x.
Key conditions
Driver age and experience limit
The K&H casco T&C do not impose a minimum driver age or minimum driving-experience requirement as an eligibility condition for cover.
Repair network requirements
There is no mandatory closed repair-shop network; the policyholder may choose any repair shop. For cars and vans up to 3,500 kg the parties may agree that the insurer settles based on the Audatex (or Autovista/DAT) cost-calculation system commonly used by Hungarian repair businesses; other vehicle categories are settled on the insurer's own repair cost calculation.
Territorial scope
Cover applies within the geographic territory of Europe as explicitly listed in the policy conditions, with an exception excluding Moldova, Belarus, Russia and Ukraine for the bus vehicle category.
Anti-theft requirements
For passenger cars and light trucks (up to 3,500 kg) the minimum protection requirement is the original factory lock set plus an immobiliser (factory-fitted, confirmed by the Autovista database, or a non-factory unit certified by MABISZ's Asset Protection Committee); for buses, heavy trucks, road tractors and agricultural tractors the accepted minimum is the original factory lock system. If the vehicle has no factory immobiliser, theft cover only applies if a certified installer's confirmation of retrofitting is provided.
Claim notification deadline
Under the formal policy conditions (clause 1.11.3.1), a claim must be reported without delay, and no later than 15 working days after becoming aware of it; the customer-information section of the same booklet mentions a shorter 2-working-day figure, but the document itself states that in case of dispute the formal policy conditions (not the customer-information text) govern, so the 15-working-day deadline applies.
Deductible rules
The policyholder freely chooses a percentage deductible (10% or 20%) combined with a minimum forint deductible (HUF 50,000/100,000/200,000/400,000); whichever of the two amounts is higher is deducted per claim. No deductible applies to elemental-damage claims or to rescue/transport/storage costs. Self-contained glass-only claims deduct only the percentage deductible (except buses). Lock/key-set replacement after burglary is reimbursed up to HUF 150,000 after the chosen percentage deductible. Until a mandatory pre-contract vehicle inspection dossier is accepted by the insurer, theft cover does not apply at all, and other claims are settled with a 30% deductible (minimum HUF 1,000,000, or the policyholder's chosen minimum if higher).
