Online purchase

Direct payment

The insurer pays claims in Hungarian forints via postal money order or bank transfer to the vehicle owner (or, with the owner's written consent, to the registered operator), except where a lien is registered, in which case payment is made to the lienholder. For repairs, the policyholder may choose reimbursement based on an invoiced repair at an authorized Hungarian brand workshop using new parts, or based on a calculation under the current Hungarian Audatex catalogue.

Geographic scope

Europe (incl. European Turkey)

Coverage applies to insurance events occurring in Europe and the European territory of Turkey, but not to the territory of the former Soviet Union except Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Robbery (rabláskár) is covered only within Hungary.

Unique selling points

  • Discounted maintenance and repair costs at 23 PostaAutó Duna Zrt. workshops nationwide, regardless of whether a claim is made.
  • No special anti-theft device is required to take out the policy — the factory-fitted immobiliser is sufficient.
  • Windscreen repair is reimbursed in full with no deductible, unlike the standard deductible applied to other claims.
  • Three selectable deductible levels (from HUF 50,000) let customers tune the balance between premium and out-of-pocket cost, adjustable at each renewal.
  • Cover is available for vehicles up to 10 years old and 200,000 km, a broader eligibility window than many comparable casco products.

Coverage limits

Own damage (collision/töréskár) cover

Covered

Covers sudden, accidental damage to the insured vehicle caused by an external force (töréskár). There is no fixed sum insured; indemnity is based on repair cost or, for total loss, the vehicle's market value at the time of loss determined via an internationally recognised valuation catalogue.

Source

Total loss cover

Covered

A vehicle is treated as a total loss if repair is uneconomical (repair cost exceeds 70% of the pre-loss market value) or technically unjustified, or if the vehicle is stolen/robbed and not recovered before the claim is settled. The insurer pays the difference between the market value at the time of loss and the wreck (salvage) value.

Partial damage / repair cost cover

Covered

If the vehicle is repairable, the insurer reimburses the repair cost based on an invoiced repair with new parts at an authorised brand workshop, or on an Audatex-based calculation, less the applicable deductible.

Source

Theft and robbery cover

Covered

Covers theft of the whole vehicle, part-theft of insured accessories, and robbery, provided the vehicle was properly locked and the alarm/immobiliser was operational and activated. Robbery is covered only within Hungary; theft is covered within the general territorial scope.

Windscreen/glass settlement rule

Covered

Glass damage is not a separately named insured event but is settled as part of töréskár: if windscreen repair is possible, the insurer covers the full repair cost with no deductible; if replacement is necessary, the insurer reimburses the replacement cost less a 10% deductible.

Source

Natural perils (elemi kár) cover

Covered

Covers damage caused by lightning, explosion, landslide, rockfall, collapse of natural cavities or underground structures, windstorm of at least 19 m/s, cloudburst, earthquake, flood, inland inundation, hail, falling snow mass and snow pressure, as well as fire/explosion from electrical faults or external fire spreading to the vehicle.

Vandalism

Conditional

Vandalism is not listed as a separately named insured event. Damage from a sudden external force (e.g. deliberate scratching or denting by a third party) may be covered as töréskár, and damage during an attempted break-in/theft is covered as part-theft, but there is no standalone 'vandalism' peril in the conditions.

Towing and temporary repair cost cover

HUF 300,000

The insurer reimburses the necessary one-off cost of towing the damaged vehicle to the nearest suitable workshop, or of temporary repair, up to a limit of HUF 300,000 per claim (Hungary or abroad). The töréskár deductible is deducted from this reimbursement.

Replacement vehicle

Excluded

The insurer's service explicitly does not extend to any cost of a substitute vehicle (temporary or permanent) for the damaged, stolen or robbed insured vehicle.

Source

Driver/passenger personal accident cover

Excluded

PostaCasco is a property (vagyon) insurance for the vehicle and its accessories/personal items; it does not include personal accident cover for the driver or passengers.

Key conditions

Driver age and experience limit

The terms and conditions do not specify a minimum driver age or driving-experience requirement.

Repair network requirements

There is no obligation to use a specific repair network; the policyholder may choose any authorised brand workshop. However, PostaCasco customers receive a discount on service and repair costs at the 23 PostaAutó Duna Zrt. workshops nationwide, independent of claims.

Territorial scope

Cover applies in Europe and the European part of Turkey, excluding the former Soviet Union (except Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania); robbery is covered only in Hungary.

Anti-theft requirements

No special anti-theft device is required for underwriting; the factory-fitted protection (e.g. immobiliser) is accepted. However, for a theft claim to be paid the vehicle must have been properly locked with all door/lock seals intact, and the alarm/immobiliser must have been operational and activated at the time of the event.

Claim notification deadline

Claims must be reported without delay, but no later than 10 working days after the event, via the insurer's website/app, phone, or e-mail.

Deductible rules

The policyholder chooses one of three deductible options at inception: 10% (min. HUF 50,000), 10% (min. HUF 100,000), or 10% (min. HUF 200,000). The deductible is deducted from every claim payment (subject to exceptions listed in the conditions); windscreen replacement always carries a fixed 10% deductible regardless of the chosen option.
