Coverage limits

Bodily injury liability limit

€6,450,000

Per claim event, regardless of the number of injured parties, the insurer is liable up to EUR 6,450,000 equivalent in HUF (converted at the statutory rate of 368.54 HUF/EUR) for bodily injury claims; this includes all claims on any legal basis, enforcement costs (including legal representation) and interest

Property damage liability limit

€1,300,000

Source

Legal defence / claim enforcement costs

Covered

Legal representation and claim-enforcement costs are included within the bodily injury and property damage liability limits (no separate sublimit); cover also extends to examining the question of liability, and the insurer may arrange for the insured's representation in related legal proceedings

Source

Green Card / territorial extension

Covered

The policy includes issuance of a Green Card, an internationally standardised proof of MTPL cover accepted in Green Card System countries; this is a territorial/documentary extension rather than a separate sum insured

Roadside assistance

No limit stated

Not addressed in the reviewed MTPL terms and conditions or IPID for this product

Source

Driver's own accident/injury cover

Excluded

MTPL covers claims made against the insured by injured third parties (károsult); it does not cover the at-fault driver's own injuries, since cover applies only to liability towards third parties, not to the policyholder's/driver's own damages

Source

Passenger accident/injury cover

Covered

Injured passengers travelling in the insured vehicle qualify as károsult (third-party claimants); their personal-injury claims are covered within the personal injury liability limit (EUR 6,450,000 equivalent). Only property-damage/lost-profit claims between insureds of the same vehicle are excluded

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Cover extends to the territory of the EEA member states and Switzerland, and to Green Card System countries whose national bureau has concluded a bilateral agreement with the Hungarian National Bureau (MABISZ) under the Internal Regulations

Green card rules

The Green Card is an internationally standardised MTPL proof document issued by insurers on behalf of the National Bureau, valid in Green Card System countries; the list of Green Card System countries is published via MABISZ

Driver restrictions

There is no named-driver restriction; however, the insurer, National Bureau or Kártalanítási Számla may recover paid claims from the driver or insured in cases such as driving without the vehicle keeper's permission, unlicensed driving, or driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, subject to recourse caps of HUF 5,000,000 (alcohol/drugs or intentional harm), HUF 1,500,000 (unlicensed driving or grossly neglected technical condition), or HUF 500,000 (unintentional breach of disclosure duty)

Claim notification deadline

The injured third party must report the claim within 30 days of the event or of becoming aware of it; the insured must report the claim in writing within 5 working days, with details needed for claims handling; for incidents abroad the deadline runs from the date of return to Hungary

Bonus-malus rules

The bonus-malus system consists of one base class (A00), 10 bonus classes and 4 malus classes, applying to passenger cars, motorcycles, buses, lorries, tractors and agricultural tractors. Classification improves by one class in the next insurance period if the vehicle had at least 270 days of continuous cover without a known claim. A class achieved on a terminated contract may be carried over to a new contract for the same vehicle category within 2 years, except where the contract terminated due to non-payment of premium
