Alfa is a travel insurance for the Hungary market with online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
The insurer settles medical and hospital costs that were organized by, or pre-agreed with, the assistance provider directly with the doctor or healthcare institution, provided the invoice is submitted directly to the insurer.
Geographic scope
Europe (plus Cyprus, the Canary Islands, Madeira, Malta in full, and the European territories of Russia and Turkey) without surcharge; worldwide (excluding the insured's country of permanent residence and country of citizenship) with a territorial surcharge, except that annual passes never extend to Australia, Canada, the USA, or New Zealand.
Base coverage: Europe plus the listed surcharge-free countries. Travel to the USA, Canada, New Zealand or Australia: +500% surcharge (VILÁG 1). Other non-European countries: +50% surcharge (VILÁG 2). Coverage never extends to the insured's own country of residence or citizenship, except for accident and luggage benefits during the outbound/return leg.

Separately, a daily hospital cash allowance of HUF 15,000/day (Arany) or HUF 20,000/day (Platina), max 15 days, is paid only when at least 65% of the cost is covered by the EHIC or another insurance (not available on Ezüst).

Key conditions
Assistance call deadline
Insured events must be reported to the assistance provider's 24/7 hotline (+36-1-477-4900) without delay, and at the latest within 24 hours of the event where objectively possible.
Unauthorized treatment
If a service was used without prior organization or approval by the insurer or assistance provider (for reasons attributable to the insured), the insurer does not reimburse the resulting extra costs; if the correct surcharge was not paid at inception, the insurer pays only in proportion to the premium actually due versus the premium paid.
Purchase while abroad
If the contract is concluded while the insured is not in their country of permanent residence, cover can start at the earliest at 00:00 on the day after conclusion, and only with the insurer's prior consent.
Chronic conditions
A pre-existing chronic illness is covered only if it required no treatment in the 12 months before the policy was concluded, the insured was under 70, and the treating specialist gave written consent to travel; emergency treatment of such conditions is reimbursed up to HUF 5,000,000 (Arany)/HUF 10,000,000 (Platina) — not available on Ezüst.
Pregnancy
Pregnancy-related check-ups, obstetric care, and termination-related procedures are covered up to the end of the 27th week of pregnancy, provided they are unforeseeable and the treating specialist gave written consent to travel.
Pre-existing condition exclusions
Costs known or foreseeable before the trip or policy inception, and conditions/injuries already existing before the trip or inception, are excluded, except for a chronic illness meeting the 12-month treatment-free / under-70 / specialist-consent conditions; chronic illness of an insured aged 70 or older is always excluded.
Coverage duration limit
Single-trip cover runs for a fixed period stated in the policy, up to 90 days without the insurer's prior consent; the insurer automatically extends cover (up to 15 days) if the insured cannot return home due to an insured event. Annual passes allow stays of up to 30 days per trip (insured must be under 70 at inception); annual student passes allow stays of up to 180 days per trip (insured must be under 30 at inception).
