Direct payment

Where possible, the assistance partner (Europ Assistance Hungary) organises and settles emergency services directly with the local provider so the insured does not have to pay out of pocket. Where this is not possible locally, the insurer assesses and reimburses documented costs the insured has advanced, once the insured returns home and submits the required documents.

Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

The policyholder/insured must notify the assistance provider (Europ Assistance Hungary) before using an assistance service where possible, and in any case no later than 24 hours after the event; late notification limits the insurer's benefit for that claim to a maximum of EUR 150 equivalent, unless notification was genuinely impossible in the circumstances.

Unauthorized treatment

If the insured fails to notify the insurer/assistance provider of the claim event within the required 24-hour deadline, the insurer's service is limited to a maximum of EUR 150 equivalent in Hungarian forint for that claim.

Purchase while abroad

A policy can only be taken out for a person already abroad at the intended start of cover if that person was continuously covered by a prior KöBE travel policy from the start of that trip until the new policy's effective date, and no insured event occurred during that period.

Chronic conditions

There is no dedicated chronic-illness benefit; chronic conditions fall under the general exclusion for pre-existing conditions, i.e. events causally linked to an illness or impairment that already existed before the contract was concluded are not insured events.

Pregnancy

Emergency pregnancy/obstetric care is covered only up to the end of week 26 of pregnancy; from week 27 onward, and childbirth itself, are excluded from cover.

Pre-existing condition exclusions

Injuries, illnesses or already-impaired organs/body parts that existed before the insurance contract was concluded, and any related follow-up treatment or check-ups, are not insured events.

Coverage duration limit

The policy has a fixed term of minimum 1 and maximum 90 days per trip; it can be purchased up to 180 days before cover starts, and the term cannot be extended once the contract has been concluded.
