Green card rules

The International Insurance Certificate (Green Card) extends coverage to the participating countries listed on the certificate itself; the list of covered countries is shown on the Green Card.

Driver restrictions

The Contratto Base is sold with the 'Guida Libera' formula (any authorized driver) by law; an optional 'Guida Esperta' clause restricting driving to the owner or more experienced drivers can be added for a premium discount.

Claim notification deadline

The policyholder must report a claim within three days of the accident or upon becoming aware of it, via the toll-free number, in writing to the assigned agency, or directly to the insurer, using the 'Modulo Blu' accident report form.

Bonus-malus rules

The Bonus Malus tariff (or an equivalent no-claims discount tariff) is freely set by the insurer and applied to the base RC Auto contract, adjusting the premium up or down at each annual renewal based on claims recorded during the observation period.

Policy specifics

Direct Settlement Regime

Claims for damage to goods only and total responsibility of the counterparty are settled directly by the insurer according to CARD (Convenzione tra Assicuratori per il Risarcimento Diretto) procedures, which is distinct from reimbursement to the policyholder

Source

International Green Card Coverage

The Certificato Internazionale di Assicurazione (Carta Verde) extends RC Auto coverage to EU and other participating countries listed on the certificate

Source

Repudiation/Recourse Waiver

Optional condition allowing the policyholder to protect coverage even in cases of excluded claims (e.g., drunk driving). This waiver limits the insurer's right of recourse against the insured.

Source

Uninsured/Unidentified Vehicle Coverage

Optional add-on covering damage to the insured vehicle in accidents involving uninsured or unidentified vehicles, provided the accident qualifies under the Road Victims Guarantee Fund conditions

Source

Annual Contract Duration

The RC Auto contract is concluded for a period of one year and automatically terminates at expiration without need for cancellation notice. The insurer guarantees coverage up to 24:00 on the 15th day following expiration or until a new policy with the same or different insurer takes effect.

Source

Duty of Disclosure and Risk Aggravation

At contract inception, the policyholder must make truthful, complete, and accurate statements about the insured risk. During the contract term, the policyholder must notify the insurer of any changes that aggravate the risk. Inaccurate declarations, omissions, or failure to disclose risk aggravation may result in policy termination and the insurer's exercise of full or partial recourse rights for damages paid.

Claim Notification and Blue Form Procedure

The policyholder must notify Allianz of a claim within three days of the accident or upon becoming aware of it. Notification can be made via the toll-free number (800 68 68 68), in writing to the assigned agency, or directly to the company. The claim must be documented using the 'Modulo di constatazione amichevole di incidente' (Blue Form) containing all required information including location, date, time, accident circumstances, damage extent, and witness details.

Driving Formula and Driver Restrictions

The policyholder may select a driving formula at inception. Available formulas typically include 'Guida Libera' (free driving for any licensed driver), 'Guida Esperta' (expert driving: vehicle may be driven only by the owner or drivers aged 26+), or other named driver restrictions. Coverage does not apply if the vehicle is driven by someone not authorized under the selected formula.
