Online purchase

Direct payment

The premium can be paid by credit card (protected online transaction), bank transfer, or PayPal.

Geographic scope

National (Italy)

Coverage is valid in Italy, Vatican City, San Marino, the Principality of Monaco, and all other EEA member states adhering to the International Motor Insurance Certificate (Green Card) system, including the UK, Switzerland, Andorra, Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Coverage does not apply in states whose international codes are crossed out on the Green Card (e.g. Albania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Iran, North Macedonia, Moldova, Morocco, Russia, Tunisia, Türkiye, Ukraine).

Unique selling points

  • Using Allianz Direct's affiliated repair network means no upfront payment for repairs, with the deductible halved on most vehicle guarantees.
  • The free gancio-traino (tow-hook/trailer) extension is included in RCA at the same liability limits with no additional premium.
  • An internal 26-class Bonus-Malus system (versus the standard 18 universal classes) allows further premium reductions via 'superbonus' sub-classes for long-term claim-free drivers.
  • Fully digital policy lifecycle management via the online Account/Home Insurance area: quoting, purchase, claims opening, suspension and reactivation.
  • Optional Protezione Rivalse cover limits the insurer's right of recourse even in specific excluded scenarios (e.g. mild alcohol intoxication up to 1g/l, minors driving without permission).

Coverage limits

Bodily Injury Liability (RCA)

€6,500,000

Mandatory third-party liability cover for bodily injury, up to the legal minimum limit of €6,500,000 per claim regardless of the number of victims; higher limits can be selected against an additional premium (Aumento Massimali minimi di Legge).

Property Damage Liability (RCA)

€6,500,000

Mandatory third-party liability cover for property damage, up to the legal minimum limit of €6,500,000 per claim; higher limits can be selected against an additional premium (Aumento Massimali minimi di Legge).

Legal Defence (included in RCA)

Covered

Allianz Direct manages out-of-court and court proceedings against third parties on the policyholder's behalf and provides criminal defence until claimants are settled; no separate monetary limit is stated for this element of RCA. A broader optional Tutela Legale add-on with its own sub-limits (e.g. legal fees, expert fees, up to €200 for registration of judicial acts) can be purchased separately.

Green Card / International Motor Insurance Certificate

Covered

Issued automatically with the policy and valid for the same period, extending RCA cover to Italy, Vatican City, San Marino, Monaco, and other EEA/Green Card system states (incl. UK, Switzerland, Andorra, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina); not valid in states whose codes are crossed out on the certificate (e.g. Albania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Iran, North Macedonia, Moldova, Morocco, Russia, Tunisia, Türkiye, Ukraine).

Roadside Assistance

Optional

Not included in the base RCA; available as an optional Assistenza Stradale add-on (with enhanced Plus/ZeroPensieri tiers in some product editions) providing towing, mobile workshop, replacement vehicle and related services. Limits are stated per individual service in the policy rather than as a single sum.

Driver Accident (Infortuni del Conducente)

Optional

Optional add-on indemnifying the driver's permanent disability or death resulting from an accident while driving the insured vehicle, within limits stated in the policy; excludes transported passengers and pre-existing conditions.

Passenger Injury (within RCA)

Covered

There is no separate passenger-accident sum insured: passengers injured in an accident are covered as 'third parties' under the mandatory RCA guarantee, up to the bodily-injury massimale, except for the driver responsible for the accident. The optional Infortuni del Conducente add-on explicitly excludes transported persons.

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Coverage is valid in Italy, Vatican City, San Marino, Monaco and other EEA/Green Card system states (incl. UK, Switzerland, Andorra, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina); excluded in states crossed out on the Green Card.

Green card rules

Upon policy issuance, Allianz Direct issues the International Motor Insurance Certificate (Green Card), valid for the same period as the policy, listing the countries where cover applies; the policy does not apply in countries whose codes are crossed out on the certificate.

Driver restrictions

Policyholders may choose between 'Guida libera' (any driver, subject to law) or 'Guida esperta' (only drivers aged 23+ holding a licence for more than two years); if the driving-formula terms are breached, Allianz Direct may exercise recourse (rivalsa) against the policyholder up to €5,000, unless the optional Protezione Rivalse cover has been purchased.

Claim notification deadline

The policyholder must notify Allianz Direct of a claim within 3 days from the event or from becoming aware of it, using the Account, phone, or chat, preferably attaching the Friendly Accident Report (CAI/CID) form.

Bonus-malus rules

Premiums follow the Bonus-Malus system with 18 universal CU classes, plus an internal Allianz Direct classification of 26 classes (including 'superbonus' sub-classes S1-S7 above CU class 1 and a 'NI' class for newly registered vehicles). Each claim-free year improves the class by one; the first at-fault claim in a year worsens the class by two, subsequent claims by three.
