Assicuratrice Milanese S.p.A. - Insurance Company
Assicuratrice Milanese
Assicuratrice Milanese is a motor third-party liability insurance for the Italy market with no online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
The premium (or first instalment) is payable upon delivery of the policy at the agency to which the contract is assigned; semi-annual instalments are permitted with a 3% surcharge. Payment can be made by bank or cashier's cheque, bank transfer, postal payment slip, electronic payment instruments, or cash within the limits set by law. The premium includes taxes and the National Health Service (SSN) contribution.
Geographic scope
Nationwide
Cover applies in Italy, Vatican City, San Marino, all EU Member States, Switzerland, Andorra, Azerbaijan, United Kingdom, Israel, Iran, Moldova, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, Tunisia, Turkey and Ukraine; circulation in other Green Card system states listed on the Green Card and not crossed out is also covered provided the certificate has been issued and the related premium paid.
Unique selling points
- Windscreen/glass claims processed through the insurer's Carglass network waive the standard EUR 150 deductible.
- If the policyholder accepts the lawyer appointed by the insurer for the optional legal defence guarantee, defence costs are covered with no monetary cap, versus EUR 5,000 if the client chooses their own lawyer.
- An optional waiver of the insurer's right of subrogation (rivalsa) is available, including in cases of blood-alcohol levels below 1.5 g/l.
- For partial-damage claims occurring within 36 months of the vehicle's first registration, settlement is calculated without applying wear-and-tear (degrado d'uso) deductions.
- The Bonus/Malus scale spans 24 internal merit classes, with the best class carrying a premium coefficient as low as 0.37 of the base tariff.

Property Damage Liability
€1,220,000
The statutory minimum liability limit for property damage caused to third parties is EUR 1,220,000 per claim, regardless of the number of people involved in the accident (combined with the personal-injury floor this equals the EUR 7,290,000 aggregate statutory minimum stated elsewhere in the policy documentation); higher limits can be purchased for an additional premium.
Legal Defence (Tutela Giudiziaria)
—
Only in Scelta legale da parte dell'Assicurato, Legale indicato dall'Impresa
Optional guarantee covering legal and out-of-court defence costs following a covered accident. If the policyholder chooses their own lawyer, the insurer covers costs up to EUR 5,000; if the policyholder accepts the lawyer indicated by the insurer, the costs of that professional assistance are covered with no monetary limit.
Green Card (International Motor Insurance Certificate)
Covered
The Green Card is issued together with the insurance certificate at no extra cost for circulation in the standard listed territories; it is valid for the period stated on it and, if it expires together with the insurance period, cover extends for up to 15 additional days under Art. 1901 of the Civil Code provided the risk is not otherwise covered. Extension of cover to further Green Card system states not automatically included requires issuance of the certificate and payment of an additional premium.
Roadside Assistance
Optional
Only in Confort, Basic
Optional guarantee, available in a 'Confort' or a 'Basic' package, providing 24/7 roadside and vehicle-related assistance abroad and in Italy, including towing (up to EUR 200), mobile workshop (up to EUR 200), recovery of the vehicle off the road (up to EUR 200), replacement car in Italy, continuation-of-journey/return of passengers (up to EUR 300), hotel expenses (up to EUR 100/day, max EUR 300 per claim/year), repatriation of the vehicle, medical repatriation, and repatriation of the body (up to EUR 2,500 in Italy / EUR 5,000 abroad), among other services; each prestation is capped individually and limited to three uses per type per policy year.
Driver Personal Accident
Optional
Optional guarantee covering accidents suffered by the driver (whoever is driving, provided duly licensed) during circulation of the insured vehicle, for death, permanent disability and medical expense reimbursement, up to the sum insured chosen by the policyholder. A 3% deductible applies to permanent disability up to 10% (for vehicles other than motorcycles/mopeds, for which a 5% absolute deductible applies); medical expense reimbursement is capped at EUR 100/day for up to 30 days per policy year, spa treatment at 30% of the sum insured, and prosthetic/therapeutic equipment at 50% of the sum insured. The insurer waives its right of subrogation against the party liable.
Passenger Personal Accident
Excluded
There is no standalone personal accident guarantee for transported passengers as there is for the driver. Transported passengers are indemnified only as third parties under the compulsory RCA guarantee within the statutory liability limits (including via the third-party-transported compensation procedure under Art. 141 of the Private Insurance Code), not as a dedicated accident benefit.
Key conditions
Territorial scope
The policy is valid in Italy, Vatican City, San Marino, all EU Member States, Switzerland, Andorra, Azerbaijan, United Kingdom, Israel, Iran, Moldova, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, Tunisia, Turkey and Ukraine; circulation in other Green Card system states shown on the Green Card and not crossed out is also covered, provided the certificate has been issued and the related premium paid.
Green card rules
The Green Card is issued together with the insurance certificate and covers circulation in the countries listed and not crossed out on the card; it is valid for the period stated and, if it expires together with the insurance period, cover extends for up to 15 additional days under Art. 1901 of the Civil Code, provided the risk is not otherwise covered.
Driver restrictions
Two driving clauses are available: 'Guida libera' (free driving, the default), which covers any duly licensed driver, and the optional 'Guida esperta' (expert driver) clause, which restricts cover to drivers over 26 years old holding a valid licence for at least 3 years. Under guida esperta, the insurer exercises subrogation if the vehicle is driven by someone not meeting the requirements; even under guida libera, the insurer may exercise subrogation if it was declared the vehicle would never be driven by anyone under 26.
Claim notification deadline
The policyholder must notify the insurer of any accident within 3 days of its occurrence or of becoming aware of it.
Bonus-malus rules
The policy uses a Bonus/Malus system with an internal merit-class scale from 1F (lowest premium coefficient, 0.37) to class 18 (highest, coefficient 2.00) for cars, converted to the IVASS universal merit class (CU) scale from 1 to 18. Claims paid with the policyholder's principal fault worsen the class by two steps per claim, while claim-free years improve it; the policyholder may avoid the resulting malus by reimbursing the insurer for paid claims before renewal.
