QUIXA
QUIXA is a motor third-party liability insurance for the Italy market with online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
Under the optional Total Quality service, QUIXA settles repair costs directly with its network of approved bodyshops for direct-compensation claims where the insured is not at fault, so no upfront payment is required from the insured; choosing a non-affiliated bodyshop reduces the settlement to the amount QUIXA would have paid its affiliated network.
Geographic scope
Italy (nationwide)
Covers Italy, Vatican City, San Marino and EU member states, plus Croatia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Monaco, Switzerland, Andorra and Serbia; also valid in other Green Card system states not crossed out on the Green Card certificate issued with the policy.
Unique selling points
- Free 'Pet on board' extension reimburses vet costs up to €500 for a pet injured in the insured vehicle during an accident.
- Automatic free extension covering up to €150,000 for third-party fire damage even when the vehicle is not in circulation.
- Optional Total Quality service enables zero-cash-outlay repairs at affiliated bodyshops in no-fault direct-compensation claims, together with a premium discount.
- quixaBOX telematics black-box option gives policyholders a more favourable bonus-malus evolution table alongside the standard premium discount.
- Glass breakage repairs at Carglass, Glassdrive or Vetrocar affiliated centres are provided with no deductible and no upfront payment.
Coverage limits
Bodily injury liability (third parties)
€6,450,000
Statutory minimum per claim is €6,450,000 for personal injury, regardless of the number of persons involved; the policy can be underwritten for higher limits against an additional premium.
Property damage liability (third parties)
€1,300,000
Statutory minimum per claim is €1,300,000 for property damage, regardless of the number of persons involved; higher limits available for an additional premium.
Legal defence (Tutela Legale)
€15,000
Optional guarantee, up to €15,000 per claim, covering legal costs and non-recoverable costs of the counterparty for the insured's defence in extrajudicial and judicial proceedings connected to the circulation of the insured vehicle, managed by AXA Partners Italia (formerly AXA Assistance).
Green Card (international motor insurance certificate)
Covered
Issued free of charge together with the insurance certificate on request; extends R.C.A. cover to the foreign states listed on the certificate whose international code is not crossed out.
Roadside assistance (Soccorso Stradale)
Optional
Optional guarantee providing 24/7 roadside assistance in Italy and Europe following breakdown, accident or fire, with per-service sub-limits: on-site repair/towing up to €150 per claim, difficult recovery up to €200, accompaniment service up to €50, hotel costs up to €75/night and €250/claim (Top product), spare parts delivery abroad up to €600, vehicle repatriation/legal abandonment up to €1,000; capped at 2 claims per vehicle per policy year.
Driver personal accident (Infortuni del Conducente)
€100,000
Optional guarantee indemnifying the driver of the insured vehicle for death or permanent disability resulting from an accident occurring during circulation, up to a maximum of €100,000; no indemnity for permanent disability of 3% or less (5% if seatbelt not worn).
Passenger accident
No limit stated
No dedicated passenger-accident guarantee is offered; passengers injured in an accident are compensated as third parties under the mandatory R.C.A. liability cover (per art. 141 of the Codice delle Assicurazioni), not under a standalone accident benefit.
Key conditions
Territorial scope
Coverage is valid in Italy, Vatican City, San Marino and EU member states, as well as Croatia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Monaco, Switzerland, Andorra and Serbia, plus other Green Card system states not crossed out on the certificate.
Green card rules
The Green Card certificate is issued free of charge together with the insurance certificate on request and extends cover to the foreign states listed and not crossed out; coverage does not apply to states whose international code is crossed out on the card.
Driver restrictions
Standard formula is 'Guida Libera' (any licensed driver). The optional 'Guida Esperta' formula restricts driving, besides the vehicle's registered owner, to drivers aged 22 or over who have held a licence for at least 2 years; breach triggers a right of recourse up to €10,000.
Claim notification deadline
The insured must notify QUIXA's Claims Service by email within 3 days from the date of the claim or from when they became aware of it; late or missing notification allows QUIXA to exercise recourse or deny indemnity for other guarantees.
Bonus-malus rules
The bonus/malus tariff has 18 merit classes (1 to 18) with decreasing/increasing premium coefficients; the class is assigned at policy inception and evolves annually based on claims for which the insured driver's principal responsibility was established, following the evolutionary rules tables (with a more favourable table if the quixaBOX telematics option is active).
