BCC Assicurazioni S.p.A.
BCC Assicurazioni
BCC Assicurazioni is a motor third-party liability insurance for the Italy market with online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
For claims where the counterparty is at fault, the policyholder can use the direct indemnification procedure (CARD), under which BCC Assicurazioni settles the claim directly with its own insured rather than through the at-fault party's insurer.
Geographic scope
Italy
Coverage applies in Italy, Vatican City, San Marino and EU member states, plus Norway, Iceland, Serbia, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, Bosnia-Herzegovina, UK and Montenegro, as well as other Green Card system countries not crossed out on the Green Card.
Unique selling points
- Optional 'Premio Protetto' clause caps the post-claim renewal premium increase at 5% after a first claim and 35% after a second claim in the same observation period.
- A dedicated recourse-waiver clause cancels BCC Assicurazioni's right of recourse against the policyholder for new drivers exceeding legal limits, minors/wards driving, non-compliant declarations, missed vehicle inspection, or driving school without an instructor.
- Base RCA cover includes veterinary expenses up to €500/year for a pet injured while being transported in the insured vehicle in compliance with the Highway Code.
- Glass-breakage deductibles are waived and body-shop deductibles/minimums are halved when repairs are carried out at BCC's network of partner workshops and glass centres (Carglass, Doctor Glass, Vetrocar & Bus).
- The optional 'Pedalo Sicuro' rider extends liability, personal accident and assistance cover to the policyholder's use of bicycles and e-bikes, including a young child carried in an approved child seat.
Coverage limits
Bodily Injury Liability
€7,750,000
Combined minimum per-claim limit of €7,750,000 for RCA liability (bodily injury and property damage together), regardless of the number of people involved in the accident; higher limits can be agreed for an additional premium. Also covers indemnification of the injured third-party passenger (art. 141 Codice delle Assicurazioni) up to the minimum legal limit.
Property Damage Liability
€7,750,000
Same combined minimum per-claim limit as bodily injury liability (€7,750,000), since Italian law sets a single unified massimale for RCA irrespective of the injury/property split; higher limits are negotiable for an additional premium.
Legal Defence (Tutela Legale)
€30,000 – €50,000
Optional legal protection cover (Light or Full formula) reimbursing legal, expert, investigative and court costs related to circulation of the insured vehicle, with a policy limit selectable between €30,000 and €50,000 per claim, unlimited per year; an optional extension for electric/plug-in hybrid vehicles is available with a fixed limit of €30,000.
Green Card
Covered
BCC Assicurazioni is required to issue the Green Card (international motor insurance certificate) at no separate charge, valid in Italy, Vatican City, San Marino, EU member states, Norway, Iceland, Serbia, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, Bosnia-Herzegovina, UK, Montenegro and other Green Card system countries not crossed out on the card.
Roadside Assistance
Optional
Optional roadside/vehicle and personal assistance cover (Light or Full formula) including towing, mobile workshop (up to €150/claim), recovery off the road (up to €200/claim), vehicle repatriation from abroad (up to €3,000/claim), replacement car and ambulance/medical assistance; each service is capped at 3 uses per type per policy year, and the Full formula adds a replacement car in Italy for total loss from theft or fire.
Driver Accident
Optional
Optional driver accident cover paying a lump sum for death or permanent disability of the driver occurring while driving the insured vehicle (from boarding to alighting); the sum insured is agreed with the policyholder at inception and is not a fixed amount set by the T&Cs.
Passenger Accident
No limit stated
No dedicated passenger accident (personal injury) cover is described in the reviewed documents; the product only provides third-party passenger liability (e.g. medical/veterinary expenses and personal belongings) and a separate driver accident cover.
Key conditions
Territorial scope
The policy covers Italy, Vatican City, San Marino and EU member states, as well as Norway, Iceland, Serbia, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, Bosnia-Herzegovina, UK and Montenegro, plus other Green Card system countries not crossed out on the card.
Green card rules
BCC Assicurazioni issues the international insurance certificate (Green Card), effective from 00:00 of the date shown on the document and valid for the same period as the paid premium; coverage abroad operates under the terms and limits of the visited country's compulsory motor insurance legislation, subject to the higher guarantees provided by the policy.
Driver restrictions
Coverage does not indemnify the at-fault driver's own damages. BCC Assicurazioni can exercise recourse (rivalsa) against the policyholder/driver in cases such as driving without a valid licence, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or use of an unroadworthy vehicle, within the limits set out in the recourse schedule; specific recourse waivers apply, e.g. a driver who has passed the driving test but is awaiting the licence document.
Claim notification deadline
Claims involving motor vehicles subject to compulsory insurance must be reported within 3 days of the event or of becoming aware of it; claims under Fire, Theft, Accidental Damage, Additional Guarantees and Driver Accident cover must be reported within 5 days.
Bonus-malus rules
The policy uses an 18-class Bonus/Malus system with premium increasing from class 1 to 18 depending on claims paid during the observation period. The optional 'Premio Protetto' clause caps the premium increase at renewal to a maximum of 5% after a first claim and 35% after a second claim in the same observation period, while the merit class still evolves under the Malus rules.
