Bodily injury liability (RC Auto)

The current DIP (Ed. 01/2026) states only that guarantees are provided within the limits indicated in the policy, without stating a specific figure.
Property damage liability (RC Auto)
Covered
Mandatory liability cover for property damage caused to third parties by the circulation of the insured vehicle, within the massimali agreed and indicated in the policy schedule; RC Auto is a single combined guarantee under Italian law and no separate split figure between bodily injury and property damage is stated in the sources.
Legal assistance (Assistenza Legale)
Optional
Only in Assistenza Legale
Optional add-on providing extrajudicial and judicial legal assistance to protect the insured's interests following a road accident, and criminal defence if the insured is investigated or charged; claims are managed by D.A.S. Difesa Automobilistica Sinistri S.p.A. and legal costs are covered within the policy limit, with no specific ceiling figure stated in the sources.
International insurance certificate (ex Green Card)
Covered
The international insurance certificate (ex Green Card) is issued to the policyholder as a standard document at contract stipulation, together with the certificate of insurance, and proves RC Auto cover abroad in the countries listed and not crossed out on the certificate.

Passenger liability extension (Sicurezza comunque)
Covered
Beyond the mandatory RC Auto guarantee, Genertel automatically covers, at the same massimale and with no premium increase, damage involuntarily caused to third parties by a passenger of the insured vehicle ('Responsabilità Civile dei terzi trasportati').
Key conditions
Territorial scope
Cover applies in Italy, EU member states (Cyprus limited to government-controlled areas), Vatican City, San Marino, Monaco and Liechtenstein, plus other states listed and not crossed out on the international insurance certificate; abroad, RC Auto operates under the conditions and limits of the local legislation, with the higher contractual guarantees prevailing.
Green card rules
The international insurance certificate (ex Green Card) is issued together with the certificate of insurance at contract stipulation and is valid for the same insurance period for which the premium or premium instalment has been paid; if the underlying contract ceases to be valid, the policyholder must return it immediately to Genertel.
Driver restrictions
The policy can be customised by driver profile: 'esperto' (drivers aged 25 or over only), 'inesperto' (main driver under 25) or unrestricted driving. The RC guarantee operates regardless of who is driving, but if the policyholder declares the vehicle is never driven by a driver under 25, a €350 supplementary deductible applies to the RC guarantee if such an inexperienced driver causes the accident.
Claim notification deadline
The policyholder must notify Genertel of any accident within 3 days of the event or of becoming aware of it, regardless of fault, as required by the Civil Code; late, inaccurate or missing notification can reduce or eliminate the right to indemnity.
Bonus-malus rules
Annual premium is adjusted via the Bonus-Malus system: the Universal Class (CU) is assigned under IVASS Provvedimento n. 72/2018 (ranging from 1 best to 18 worst) and is mirrored by Genertel's internal merit class (ranging from -1 to 18). With no claims the class improves by one; with one claim at fault it worsens by two classes; from the second claim it worsens by three classes. Claims with at-fault share ≤50% do not trigger malus unless cumulative shared responsibility over 5 years exceeds 51%.
