Direct payment

The premium must be paid at policy issuance to the intermediary to whom the policy is assigned, or directly to the Company, via non-transferable bank/cashier's check, bank transfer, postal money order or similar, credit card/POS, or cash within the legal limits.

Geographic scope

National (Italy), with extended coverage across the EU and Green Card system states

Covers Italy, Vatican City, San Marino and EU Member States, plus Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, Serbia, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the United Kingdom; also valid in other Green Card system states whose codes are not crossed out on the Green Card certificate issued with the policy.

Unique selling points

  • The insurer waives its statutory right of recourse (rivalsa) against the insured even for drink-driving or drug-impaired driving offences under Articles 186, 186-bis and 187 of the Highway Code, including cases of refusal to test.
  • Optional "Bonus Protetto" lets policyholders with a clean claims record protect their merit class from a premium increase after a single claim, by reimbursing the settled amount to the insurer.
  • Direct repair ("risarcimento in forma specifica") through a network of authorised body shops speeds up claims settlement for non-liable policyholders, avoiding out-of-pocket cash settlement.
  • 24/7 roadside assistance structure (Struttura Organizzativa) provides an extensive service menu including replacement vehicles, hotel stays, medical repatriation up to €15,000 and repatriation of the deceased up to €3,500.
  • Hail-damage repairs performed with "tira bolli" (paintless dent repair) technique waive the deductible entirely and halve or remove the excess, compared with standard glass/bodywork claims handling.

Coverage limits

Bodily injury liability (third party)

€6,450,000

The statutory minimum indemnity limit per claim is €6,450,000 for personal injury, regardless of the number of people involved in the accident; limits are expressed as a single combined limit per claim, and a higher limit than the legal minimum can be agreed against an additional premium.

Property damage liability (third party)

€1,300,000

The statutory minimum indemnity limit per claim is €1,300,000 for property damage, regardless of the number of people involved; a higher limit than the legal minimum can be agreed against an additional premium, within the maximum retainable by the insurer.

Legal defence / legal protection

Optional

Optional guarantee, purchasable against an additional premium: the insurer covers, within the limits and conditions stated in the policy schedule, the cost of extrajudicial and judicial assistance needed to protect the insured's rights following a covered claim, including court and legal costs and fees for lawyers, technical consultants and experts. No fixed statutory sum is set; the limit is the amount stated in the individual policy schedule.

Green Card / international coverage

Covered

For motor vehicles, cover applies in Italy, Vatican City, San Marino and EU Member States, plus Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, Serbia, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the United Kingdom; cover also extends to Green Card system states listed on the international insurance certificate (Green Card) issued together with the insurance certificate, provided their country codes are not crossed out.

Roadside assistance

Optional

Optional guarantee providing 24/7 roadside assistance for cars and light vehicles, with separate per-service caps rather than a single aggregate limit: towing up to €500 per claim; recovery of a vehicle that left the road up to €500; mobile workshop intervention up to €500; replacement vehicle (1200cc, unlimited mileage) for 3 days (breakdown), 5 days (partial damage) or 30 days (total loss/theft); hotel expenses €100 per person/day up to €500 per claim; medical repatriation up to €15,000 per claim (air ambulance only within Europe); repatriation of the deceased up to €3,500 per claim.

Driver personal accident

Optional

Optional guarantee covering accidents suffered by the insured while driving the vehicle identified in the policy, when they result in death or permanent disability of the insured; the indemnity is the sum insured stated in the policy schedule, with no statutory fixed amount, and permanent disability below a set severity threshold is not indemnified.

Passenger personal accident

No limit stated

The reviewed sources describe a personal accident guarantee only for the driver of the insured vehicle (Infortuni del Guidatore); no distinct personal-accident cover for transported passengers is described. The policy separately includes third-party liability for injuries caused to transported persons, which is a liability cover, not a personal-accident indemnity for passengers.

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Covers Italy, Vatican City, San Marino and EU Member States, plus Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, Serbia, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the United Kingdom; also valid in other Green Card system states whose codes are not crossed out on the Green Card. For watercraft, cover applies to the Mediterranean within the straits and inland waters of European countries.

Green card rules

The Green Card (international insurance certificate) is issued together with the insurance certificate on simple request and extends cover to the Green Card system states whose country codes are not crossed out on the certificate; it is valid for the same period as the premium/instalment paid.

Driver restrictions

The base cover is provided on a "free driving" basis, meaning any duly licensed driver may drive the vehicle. An optional "guida esperta" (experienced driver) discount clause can be selected if the vehicle's registered owner is over 25 and the vehicle's internal merit class is at most class 40; under this clause the insurer can seek recourse (rivalsa) of up to €2,000 against the policyholder if, at the time of the claim, the vehicle was driven by a person other than the owner who was under 26 years of age.

Claim notification deadline

In the event of a claim, written notice must be given to the Company or to the intermediary to whom the policy is assigned promptly and in any case within three days of becoming aware of it.

Bonus-malus rules

Mixed/bonus-malus tariff structure with 30 merit classes ranging from class 19 to class 48, with premium levels that increase or decrease depending on the presence or absence of claims during the observation periods; a fixed deductible per claim may also apply depending on the tariff form chosen.
