ERGO
ERGO is a motor casco insurance for the LV market with online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
Compensation is paid primarily through repair at an ERGO-designated partner workshop or authorised dealer. Cash payout is available if elected; in that case loss amounts are calculated per the Latvian Vehicle Insurers Bureau approved methodology. Windscreen damage can be settled directly at ERGO windscreen partner centres without a deductible. Decisions on damage claims are made within 5 working days of receipt of all required documents; for theft within 30 days. Payment is made within 5 working days of the decision.

SourceKey conditions
driver_age_experience_limit
If the policy specifies a minimum driver age or a minimum Category B driving experience, and the vehicle is operated by a younger or less experienced driver, the claim payout is reduced by 20%. If the policy lists specific permitted users and an unlisted driver is involved in a traffic accident, the payout is reduced by 50%.
repair_network_requirements
Vehicles up to 3 years old are repaired at an authorised dealer using new original spare parts (included by default; 'Dealer repair' add-on available for vehicles 3–10 years old). Vehicles using ERGO partner workshops receive a 2-year repair warranty on work performed. Alternatively, the policyholder may choose a free-choice workshop (non-dealer), in which case used or non-original parts of appropriate wear may be used. Repair estimates must be approved by ERGO before work begins; repairs started without approval may result in partial or full denial of the claim.
territorial_scope
Coverage is valid in the territory stated in the policy: Latvia only, Baltic states (Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia), or European Zone 1 (Baltic plus most Western and Southern European countries). European Zone 2 (adding Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine and the European part of Russia) is available as an option. Roadside assistance abroad is subject to a EUR 575 per-incident limit. Theft deductible is doubled (min. 20%) in Russia, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine. Vehicle transport back to Latvia from abroad is decided case-by-case by ERGO.
anti_theft_requirements
The insurer may require additional security systems to be installed as a condition of cover. All installed security systems must be maintained in working order and any required subscription fees paid on time. Keys, remote controls and registration documents must be stored securely and not left in the vehicle. In the event of key or system malfunction or theft, the policyholder must take immediate remedial action. If the vehicle is not equipped with the security systems specified in the policy, the theft claim payout is reduced by 50%. If two original ignition keys (or copies registered at the authorised dealer) and the security system controller cannot be surrendered in the event of theft, the payout is reduced by 50% unless the authorised dealer certifies the missing key has been deleted from the vehicle's computer.
claim_notification_deadline
Immediately upon occurrence of an insured event, the policyholder must notify ERGO. For damage risk events, notification to the relevant state or municipal authority (police, rescue service, etc.) is generally required immediately, with exceptions (e.g. single-vehicle accident with no third-party property damage, natural forces damage, animal/bird damage without traffic collision, agreed notification form completed and submitted). For theft risk, police must be notified immediately without exception. Any changes increasing the insured risk must be notified to ERGO in writing within 3 working days of discovery. After a claim, the damaged vehicle must be presented to ERGO or a partner workshop within 5 working days of written notification.
deductible_rules
A deductible (pašrisks) stated in the policy applies to each insured event and is deducted from the claim amount. The deductible is not applied if: the accident occurred in Latvia and a third party has been legally recognised as the at-fault party; the damage is to glazing only (clause 5.26); windscreen replacement at an ERGO windscreen centre with an alternative windscreen; collision with an animal or bird (once per policy period, clause 5.24); off-road run-off (once per policy period outside built-up areas with no third-party property damage, clause 5.25); wrong fuel (clause 5.4); key/document/number plate loss or theft (clause 5.5). Before vehicle photos are received and confirmed, a default deductible of EUR 500 applies to damage claims. For theft in Russia, Belarus, Moldova or Ukraine the deductible is applied at double the normal rate, minimum 20%. If the vehicle is not drivable and cannot be inspected, the insurer may reduce or deny the claim.
