Coverage limits

Own Damage (Vehicle Damage)

Covered

Covers any sudden and unforeseen damage to the insured vehicle, subject to the insured sum defined in the policy, except for the exclusions listed in the T&C.

Source

Total Loss / Write-off

Covered

If repair is technically impossible or economically unjustified, the indemnity is calculated as the vehicle's market value immediately before the event, minus any salvage value and the applicable deductible.

Source

Partial Loss / Repair Costs

Covered

If repair is technically possible and economically justified, the insurer indemnifies the costs of restoring the vehicle to its pre-loss condition, at a dealer, insurer-network or policyholder-chosen repair shop.

Source

Theft and Robbery (incl. Theft of Parts)

Covered

Covers open or covert theft/robbery of the whole vehicle and open or covert theft of parts built into the vehicle, subject to security-system and key-handover conditions; indemnity reduced by 50% if not all keys/security devices are surrendered (with specific exceptions).

Source

All-Glass Cover, No Deductible

Optional

When specifically agreed in the contract, covers damage to all vehicle glass (windscreen, rear, side, sunroof, panoramic roof), including thermal-crack breakage, with no deductible and an unlimited number of claims during the policy term, provided only glass is damaged.

Source

Natural Perils (Storm, Flood, Hail, etc.)

Covered

Damage from weather and natural events (storm, hail, flooding, falling trees etc.) is covered under the general 'sudden and unforeseen damage' risk, except that large-scale natural catastrophes with mass casualties (e.g. earthquakes, mass landslides) are excluded.

Source

Vandalism

Covered

Malicious third-party damage to the vehicle falls under the general 'sudden and unforeseen damage' risk covered as standard, subject to the policy's general exclusions.

Source

24/7 Roadside Assistance

€1,000

When specifically agreed in the contract, provides 24/7 roadside assistance including towing, unlimited in Latvia and capped at EUR 1,000 within the rest of the covered European territory; must be pre-arranged by phone with the insurer.

Source

Replacement Vehicle

€30

When specifically agreed in the contract, reimburses rental costs for a replacement vehicle for up to 15 calendar days per policy term, at up to EUR 30 per day, paid without deduction of the deductible.

Source

Driver and Passenger Accident Insurance

Covered

The IPID states that driver and passenger accident insurance for injuries sustained in a recognized road-traffic accident is included in the KASKO product; specific sums insured and limits are set under separate accident-insurance terms not included in the reviewed source set.

Key conditions

Driver age and experience limit

If the vehicle was driven by a person younger, or with less driving experience, than stated in the contract, the indemnity for vehicle damage or total loss is reduced by 20%.

Repair network requirements

Repairs are carried out at the manufacturer's authorized dealer (if the 'Dealer Service Repair' option is chosen or the factory warranty is valid), at the insurer's partner workshop, or at a repair shop chosen by the client (excluding manufacturer-authorized workshops), reimbursed up to standard local market rates.

Territorial scope

Coverage territory is selected at inception from three options: Baltics only; Europe (Baltics plus most EU/EEA states); or Europe+CIS (adds Belarus, European Russia west of the Urals, Moldova and Ukraine). A 20% reduction of the indemnity applies to events occurring in the CIS territory.

Anti-theft requirements

Coverage is conditional on the vehicle being fitted with, and keeping in working order, the security systems specified in the contract; failure to have them installed, functioning or engaged, or leaving keys/control devices easily accessible, results in denial or reduction of the claim.

Claim notification deadline

The policyholder, insured, authorized user or beneficiary must immediately, as soon as possible, notify the responsible authority (police, fire and rescue service, etc.) of the event and submit the claim application to the insurer; the T&C does not specify a fixed number of days.

Deductible rules

No deductible applies to vehicle-damage claims from road accidents in Latvia where the at-fault party's MTPL insurer is identified; otherwise the contractual deductible applies for damage/theft-of-parts and a separate deductible for theft/robbery and for total loss; from the second claim in the policy period the damage/theft-of-parts deductible is at least EUR 150; where multiple deductible rules could apply, only the single largest deductible is applied.
