Direct payment

LD typically settles claims on a cashless basis by paying its recommended repair partner directly; the policyholder may instead choose a cash payout, and roughly half of such payouts are made within 5 working days.

Geographic scope

Europe (except Russia and Belarus)

Cover applies in Lithuania and, where the policy states 'Europe except Russia and Belarus', across the EU/EEA states, the UK, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and other listed European states, explicitly excluding Russia and Belarus.

Unique selling points

  • No deductible applies for claims such as animal collisions, natural disasters, glass damage or passenger injuries, which many competitors charge extra for.
  • 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every CASCO policy, both in Lithuania and abroad.
  • Claims decisions are typically made shortly after the incident is reported, reducing waiting time for customers.
  • Chosen by roughly one in three insured people in Lithuania, reflecting its position as the country's leading insurer.
  • In Lithuania, a replacement vehicle is delivered within 12 hours once repair is confirmed to take longer than one working day.

Coverage limits

Own damage cover

Covered

Only in Transporto priemonės draudimas nauja verte, Detalių nusidėvėjimas netaikomas, Detalių nusidėvėjimas taikomas

Covers repair costs or an indemnity for damage to the insured vehicle caused by a traffic accident, fire, natural forces or malicious acts of third parties. The indemnity is capped at the sum insured, which by default equals the vehicle's market value on the day of the loss, unless an agreed sum insured or the 'new value' option was chosen at inception. Under 'Transporto priemonės draudimas nauja verte' the loss is calculated on the vehicle's value at contract inception; under 'Detalių nusidėvėjimas netaikomas' repair costs are paid without deducting wear on replaced parts (if invoices are supplied); under 'Detalių nusidėvėjimas taikomas' a wear-and-tear deduction per the depreciation table applies unless equivalent used parts are fitted.

Total loss / destruction cover

Covered

Only in Transporto priemonės draudimas nauja verte, Detalių nusidėvėjimas netaikomas, Detalių nusidėvėjimas taikomas

A vehicle is deemed destroyed when repair is technically impossible or economically unreasonable (repair cost equal to or exceeding the sum insured less salvage value). The indemnity equals the sum insured (market value at loss date, or under 'nauja verte' the value at contract inception) minus the salvage value.

Source

Partial damage / repair cover

Covered

Only in Transporto priemonės draudimas nauja verte, Detalių nusidėvėjimas netaikomas, Detalių nusidėvėjimas taikomas

Repairable damage is indemnified based on the repair costs necessary to restore the vehicle to its pre-loss condition (labour, paint, replacement parts less any applicable wear deduction), calculated per the garage-choice and valuation options selected in the policy.

Source

Theft / robbery cover

Covered

Covers theft of the whole vehicle or of individual parts, and damage caused during an attempted theft. The indemnity for a full theft equals the sum insured (market value at loss date, less deductible). Cover does not apply if the vehicle was left with open windows/sunroof/doors/boot, if it was stolen together with its keys left inside (except robbery), or if the required anti-theft devices were not properly installed or active.

Glass breakage cover

Covered

Only in Transporto priemonės draudimas nauja verte, Detalių nusidėvėjimas netaikomas, Detalių nusidėvėjimas taikomas

Covers breakage or cracking of the vehicle's body, mirror or headlight glass. No deductible applies if the glass is repaired or replaced at an LD-designated garage in Lithuania (or, under the 'nauja verte' option, at a warranty garage in Lithuania); otherwise the policy's standard deductible applies.

Natural perils cover

Covered

Covers damage from storm, heavy short-term rainfall, hail, snow load, flood, ground subsidence, landslide, and falling icicles/snow/ice.

Source

Vandalism / malicious acts cover

Covered

Driver and passenger accident cover

Optional

Optional cover, active only if selected and shown on the policy. Pays a percentage of the chosen sum insured (divided equally among all actual occupants) for bodily injury or death of the driver or passengers resulting from an accident involving the insured vehicle, per the injury schedule (Traumų lentelė). No deductible applies to this cover.

Key conditions

Driver age and experience limit

The insurer asks at inception whether the vehicle will be used by anyone under 25 or with under 2 years' driving experience; if a first claim occurs while the vehicle is used by someone outside the policy's defined group of authorised drivers, an extra EUR 300 deductible applies to that claim.

Repair network requirements

Depending on the option chosen, the vehicle is repaired either at a garage of the policyholder's choice in Lithuania ('Autoservisas Draudėjo pasirinkimu') or at an insurer-designated garage in Lithuania ('Autoservisas Draudiko parinkimu'); if the latter was chosen but repairs are done elsewhere without the insurer's consent, the payout is reduced by 20%.

Territorial scope

Cover applies within the territory named in the policy; where stated as 'Europe except Russia and Belarus', it extends to all EU/EEA states, the UK, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and other listed European countries, but never to Russia or Belarus.

Anti-theft requirements

The policyholder must install the insurer's required anti-theft devices at an approved installer by the date stated in the policy and prove this on request; theft claims are refused if the required devices were not properly fitted, were switched off, or (for a tracking system) the monitoring/response service had lapsed.

Claim notification deadline

Where required by traffic rules, the police (or relevant emergency service) must be notified immediately; the insurer must be notified within 3 working days of the event (14 working days if it happened abroad), and confirmed in writing on request.

Deductible rules

A fixed-amount or percentage deductible applies per claim as stated in the policy (if several deductibles could apply, only the highest is used). No deductible applies to animal-collision damage, damage to the registration plate, or driver/passenger accident and pet claims. An extra EUR 300 deductible applies to a first claim involving a driver outside the authorised group, and a minimum EUR 50 deductible applies to tyre-only damage.
