Direct payment

For injured third parties, Compensa settles the compensation directly with the claimant; for services covered under the optional roadside-assistance add-on, costs are settled by transfer to a bank account or through Compensa's partner repair/service providers.

Geographic scope

European Economic Area and Switzerland, extendable worldwide via Green Card

Coverage under a standard or border insurance contract applies in all European Economic Area states and the Swiss Confederation; a Green Card extends protection to other Green Card system countries outside the EU (e.g. Belarus, Russia).

Unique selling points

  • Optional 'Roadside assistance plus' tier provides a replacement car for up to 7 days after an accident, beyond what many standard MTPL policies include.
  • A one-time, one-hour psychologist consultation is offered to the insured driver after an accident causing injury to a third party.
  • Dedicated electric vehicle support: towing to the nearest charging point or on-site battery charging, available up to twice per contract term.
  • Roadside assistance operates 24/7, seven days a week, across Lithuania.
  • An optional legal-assistance rider (6 EUR/year) gives policyholders phone or email access to legal consultations on accident claims and evidence gathering.

Driver Personal Accident

Not established from the insurer's documents

MTPL does not compensate the at-fault person who caused the damage, their own vehicle, or property in it; the product covers civil liability towards third parties only, not the policyholder/driver's own injuries.

Passenger Accident (as Third Party)

Not established from the insurer's documents

Passengers in the insured (at-fault) vehicle are treated as third parties and their injuries are compensated under the bodily injury liability limit (shared aggregate of 5,210,000 EUR per accident), not as a separate standalone sum insured.

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Coverage under a standard/border MTPL contract applies throughout the EEA and Switzerland; a Green Card, issued on request, extends coverage to other Green Card system states outside the EU.

Green card rules

A Green Card is issued at the policyholder's request alongside a standard MTPL contract and grants coverage in the specific non-EEA/Swiss Green Card system countries it lists (e.g. Belarus, Russia).

Driver restrictions

MTPL insures the vehicle rather than a named driver; however, the insurer may seek recourse from the person who caused the accident if that person did not hold a driving licence of the appropriate category, was intoxicated, fled the scene, or acted with intent or gross negligence.

Claim notification deadline

An accident must be reported to the police where required by traffic rules, and reported to Compensa within 3 business days via compensa.lt or by phone at 19111; any claim or lawsuit received from a third party must be reported to the insurer within 5 business days.

Bonus-malus rules

The reviewed sources do not detail a specific bonus-malus discount/surcharge table for this product; the annual MTPL premium is stated on the policy schedule at the time of purchase.
