Key conditions

territorial_scope

The MTPL contract is valid in all countries listed on the insurance certificate. This is typically all EU member states and the Swiss Confederation, or all EU member states, the Swiss Confederation, and all Green Card system states. The Green Card is automatically included; its validity depends on the territorial option selected in the contract.

green_card_rules

The Green Card is automatically issued and is required when travelling to certain non-EU countries. For Green Card system countries outside the EU, the Green Card must be carried. The list of Green Card system member states is published by Compensa. Coverage limits and claims procedures may differ in non-EU territories.

driver_restrictions

The MTPL contract is concluded with the vehicle owner. The policyholder may also be a person using the vehicle under a leasing agreement. All lawful operators of the vehicle may drive it, but the minimum driving experience and age of potential drivers must be stated when concluding the contract. Insurance in another person's name is not permitted, except for leasing/hire-purchase arrangements.

claim_notification_deadline

The insured must notify the insurer of a traffic accident in which they are the at-fault party, as required by the Law of the Republic of Lithuania on Compulsory Insurance of Civil Liability of Vehicle Owners. If the insured party fails to fulfil its statutory obligations or fulfils them improperly, the insurer is entitled to reclaim up to 20% of the insurance benefit paid from the vehicle operator.

bonus_malus_rules

The MTPL premium depends on driving experience, vehicle type and power, insurance period, claims history, and other risk factors. Additional discounts are applied to loyal and disciplined (claim-free) drivers. An extra discount is also available if the policyholder or their spouse holds another valid voluntary insurance contract (accident, CASCO, or home/property insurance) with Compensa.
