Lietuvos draudimas is a travel insurance for the Lithuania market with online purchase and limited assistance availability.
Direct payment
For medical expenses up to EUR 300, the insured pays out of pocket and claims reimbursement within 30 calendar days of returning to Lithuania via tel. 1828 (Lithuania) or +370 5 266 6612 (abroad) or via self-service at www.savasld.lt. If costs exceed EUR 300 or hospitalisation is required, the insurer must be notified immediately. In Egypt, OPS International must be contacted before any medical treatment.

Medical expenses and repatriation insurance
Covered
Covers emergency medical assistance expenses abroad (outpatient and inpatient), prescribed medications, bandaging and fixation materials, crutch rental up to 30 days, medical transport, transfer to Lithuanian or permanent residence hospital, and repatriation. Sum insured agreed individually and stated in the insurance policy. Compulsory health insurance system applied first.
Emergency medical treatment (outpatient and inpatient)
Covered
Covers first medical aid and urgent medical care provided in outpatient and inpatient health care institutions abroad that cannot be deferred until the insured person returns to Lithuania, including acute health disorders and life-threatening conditions.
Hospitalization expenses
Covered
Inpatient (hospital) treatment expenses are covered as part of the medical expenses insurance when emergency medical assistance is required abroad and cannot be deferred. Covered within the agreed sum insured stated in the policy.
Outpatient treatment expenses
Covered
Outpatient (ambulatory) medical care expenses abroad are covered as part of the medical expenses insurance when emergency medical assistance is required. Covered within the agreed sum insured stated in the policy.
Emergency dental treatment
Covered
Covers emergency dental care expenses up to EUR 200 per policy period for the medical expenses insurance variant. Defined as dental care to relieve acute toothache and temporary filling if needed. For foreigner medical expenses insurance variant, the limit is EUR 50.
Medical transport expenses
Covered
Covers medically urgent transportation expenses by medical or other transport as part of the medical expenses insurance. Transfer from the foreign hospital to continue treatment in Lithuania or in the country of permanent residence is covered if approved in writing by the insurer and not exceeding transport-to-Lithuania costs.
Medical evacuation / repatriation
Covered
Covers transfer of the insured from a foreign hospital for further treatment in a Lithuanian hospital or hospital in the country of permanent residence. The necessity must be confirmed in writing by the insurer based on the treating physician's recommendations. In case of death abroad, covers transportation of remains or urn to Lithuania or country of permanent residence.
Repatriation of remains
Covered
Covers transport of the deceased insured's remains to Lithuania (not exceeding transport-to-Lithuania costs) or burial/cremation abroad and urn transport to Lithuania or country of permanent residence. Written insurer approval required.
Search and rescue expenses
Excluded
Search and rescue costs (paieškos išlaidos) are explicitly excluded under B.6 (non-reimbursable expenses) of the policy. The insurer explicitly does not cover the costs of locating the insured person when their exact location is not known.
COVID-19 treatment coverage
Conditional
Medical expenses due to COVID-19 are covered under the medical expenses insurance variant provided that COVID-19 is not the disease for which a pandemic has been declared at the time of the insured event. Coverage applies under travel medical and repatriation insurance variant. If a pandemic has been declared for the disease, the event is excluded.
Pre-existing conditions
Conditional
Treatment and diagnostics of diseases known prior to the entry into force of the insurance contract are generally not reimbursed (B.6.52.1). Exception: sudden acute attacks that create a life-threatening condition for the insured are covered. Chronic disease treatment is covered only when life is at risk. Oncological, mental and neurological diseases are fully excluded.
Winter sports coverage
Optional
Skiing on marked slopes with snowboard and mountain skis (winter sports) is covered only when the trip type 'Winter Sports' or 'Dangerous/Extreme Sports' is selected in the insurance certificate (policy). Under the standard tourism/private travel type, winter sports are not covered.
Adventure / extreme sports coverage
Optional
Windsurfing, water skiing, white-water rafting, and quad biking (not in mountains) are NOT classified as extreme sports and are included in the standard tourism trip type. Diving up to 20 m depth is included in standard tourism. True extreme/dangerous life-threatening sports (boxing, parachuting, diving >20 m, mountain climbing with equipment above 4 km, off-piste skiing, etc.) require selection of 'Dangerous/Extreme Sports' trip type in the policy.
Pregnancy complications – emergency medical assistance
Covered
Emergency medical assistance expenses due to pregnancy complications are covered up to EUR 200 per policy period. Exception: ectopic pregnancy – the EUR 200 limit does not apply. Routine pregnancy consultations, termination, childbirth, and postnatal care are excluded (B.6.52.5).
Personal (civil) liability insurance
Optional
Optional coverage for damage caused to the life, health or property of third parties during travel abroad. Standard deductible EUR 60 per event. Damage to temporarily rented dwelling up to EUR 1,000; rented movable property (excl. motor vehicles, aircraft, vessels) up to EUR 500. Must be selected in the insurance certificate. Excludes damage from business/professional activities, family members, use of firearms, motor vehicles, aircraft, vessels.
Legal assistance / legal expenses
Excluded
Legal assistance as a standalone coverage is not mentioned or provided in this product. The policy covers third-party liability claims handling within the civil liability module but does not include separate legal assistance or legal expense insurance.
24/7 assistance service
Covered
Assistance service is available at +370 5 266 6612 (abroad) or 1828 (in Lithuania). In Egypt, a dedicated assistance company OPS International is accessible at +370 5 259 1114 or ld@ops24.eu before any medical treatment. Assistance costs (incident registration, coverage confirmation to hospital, telephone consultations, repatriation coordination) are covered. Remote family doctor consultations available daily 08:00–20:00.
Key conditions
Assistance call deadline
If the cost of medical services exceeds EUR 300 or hospitalisation is required, notify the insurer immediately (within 24 hours). If costs are EUR 300 or less, the insured pays out of pocket and submits a reimbursement request within 30 calendar days of returning to Lithuania. In Egypt, OPS International (+370 5 259 1114 or ld@ops24.eu) must be contacted before any medical facility.
Unauthorized treatment
If the insured is treated in a hospital or transferred medically to Lithuania or if remains are transported/buried without prior written insurer approval, these costs will not be reimbursed. Pre-authorisation from the insurer is required for inpatient treatment, medical transport, repatriation, and accompanying person expenses (clauses 52.24–52.27).
Purchase while abroad
The insurance contract must be concluded before the trip begins. Coverage for medical expenses, baggage, civil liability, and accident insurance commences no earlier than when the insured crosses the Lithuanian state border upon departure from Lithuania. Unexpected travel expenses coverage commences from the date indicated in the policy, provided the premium has been paid.
Chronic conditions
Chronic diseases are generally excluded. Exception: treatment of chronic diseases when there is an immediate threat to the insured's life is covered (clause B.6.52.4). Exacerbations of chronic diseases without life threat are not reimbursed. Oncological, mental, and neurological diseases are fully excluded regardless of the stage.
Pregnancy
Emergency medical assistance due to pregnancy complications is covered up to EUR 200 per policy period. Exception: ectopic pregnancy – no EUR 200 limit applies. Routine pregnancy consultations, termination, childbirth, and postnatal care are excluded. All diseases related to pregnancy, its termination, and childbirth are excluded (clause B.6.52.5).
Pre-existing condition exclusions
Diseases known or commencing before the entry into force of the insurance contract are generally not reimbursed (clause B.6.52.1). Exception: sudden acute attacks caused by pre-existing conditions that create a life-threatening situation for the insured are covered. All oncological, mental, and neurological diseases are excluded regardless of prior knowledge.
Coverage duration limit
The insurance contract is concluded for the selected travel period. If the insured's return or transport to Lithuania is impossible due to health condition, the coverage for that condition may be extended by up to 28 calendar days (clause 49). The maximum permitted stay in the selected destination country must be specified in the insurance certificate.

Policy specifics
Dental emergency
Emergency dental pain relief and source removal expenses are covered up to EUR 200 per policy period under medical expenses insurance (clause B.5.48.4). Under foreigner medical expenses insurance the limit is EUR 50 (clause G.5.105.4). Defined as dental care provided by a dentist to relieve acute toothache and place a temporary filling if needed.
Accompanying person expenses
Covers reasonable accommodation and return expenses of one accompanying person who, according to the treating physician's recommendation, had to stay or travel with the insured due to the insured's health condition. Also covers reasonable expenses of one person travelling to the insured if the insured's life is at risk. Both are limited to EUR 100 per day for up to 10 calendar days. Written insurer approval required.
Phone call expenses
Reasonable and necessary phone call expenses related to the insured event when contacting the medical facility, insurance company, or assistance company are reimbursed up to EUR 50 per policy period. Reimbursed upon submission of a call log.
COVID-19 coverage
Medical expenses related to COVID-19 are covered under the medical expenses insurance variant, provided COVID-19 has not been declared a pandemic disease at the time of the insured event. If a pandemic has been declared (clause B.3.45.3), illness or death due to that disease is excluded. Coverage applies under medical and repatriation insurance variant as well as unexpected travel expenses variant.
Deductible
No deductible applies to the standard medical expenses (Lithuanian travellers) variant. For the foreigner medical expenses insurance (G) variant, a 20% deductible per event applies, not exceeding EUR 1,000. For civil liability insurance, a EUR 60 deductible applies per event.
Egypt assistance company requirement
In case of an insured event in Egypt, before contacting any medical facility the insured must first contact assistance company OPS International at tel. +370 5 259 1114 or e-mail ld@ops24.eu. This requirement is mandatory in all cases.
High-cost medical treatment notification
If the cost of medical services exceeds EUR 300 or the insured is being admitted to hospital, the insurer must be notified immediately at tel. +370 5 266 6612. For costs not exceeding EUR 300, the insured pays out of pocket and submits a reimbursement request within 30 calendar days of returning to Lithuania.
Territorial coverage exclusions
Insurance coverage does not apply in: the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, territories of Ukraine not controlled by the Ukrainian Government, Transnistria (not controlled by Moldova), Abkhazia and South Ossetia (not controlled by Georgia), and countries or territories against travel to which the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises.
Sports activities coverage
Standard tourism trip type covers: windsurfing, water skiing, white-water rafting, quad biking (not in mountains), and scuba diving up to 20 m depth. Winter sports (marked slopes) require 'Winter Sports' trip type. True extreme/life-threatening sports require 'Dangerous/Extreme Sports' trip type specified in the policy. Professional sports require separate selection.
Remote family doctor consultation
Insured persons can consult a family doctor remotely during travel if medical advice is needed. The service is available daily 08:00–20:00 without breaks, in Lithuanian, English and Russian. Consultations available by phone call, Zoom video call, Viber, or WhatsApp.
