Ongoing treatments and non-consolidated convalescence states are excluded.

Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

The insured must contact AXA Assistance at the time the event occurs (at the latest as soon as possible). Any services not requested at the time of the event, or arranged without AXA Assistance's agreement, do not give rise to reimbursement or indemnity after the fact. Exception: search and rescue costs abroad, ski accident transport costs, and non-hospitalisation medical expenses (up to 2 visits per year with medical certificate).

Unauthorized treatment

Medical expenses incurred under the private regime (rather than public regime) are only covered if technical and medical imperatives justify it and AXA Assistance medical team has given prior approval. Any services organised without AXA Assistance's prior agreement are not reimbursed, except in the specific exceptions listed (non-hospitalisation medical care, ski accident transport, search and rescue). The insured who refuses to follow AXA Assistance physicians' decision expressly releases AXA Assistance from all liability.

Purchase while abroad

The Option Voyage must be subscribed before travel. Trips reserved before the subscription date and departing less than one month after the effective date are excluded from the cancellation guarantee. The guarantee cannot be taken out while already abroad; no mention of post-departure purchase is found in the policy terms.

Chronic conditions

Chronic diseases that have caused neurological, respiratory, circulatory, blood or renal alterations are excluded from personal assistance. Relapses and convalescence of all conditions revealed, not yet consolidated and being treated before the departure date and presenting a real risk of rapid worsening are excluded. Ongoing treatments and non-consolidated convalescence states are excluded from assistance.

Pregnancy

For the cancellation guarantee: pregnancy complications or disorders (including premature birth before the 33rd week) of the insured or a family member up to the 2nd degree are covered. Pregnancy of the insured is covered for cancellation when the trip was planned during the last 3 months of pregnancy and the pregnancy was not known at the time of reservation. For the assistance guarantee: pregnancy beyond the 26th week and voluntary terminations of pregnancy are excluded.

pre_existing_conditions

For the cancellation guarantee, relapses of pre-existing diseases are covered provided they were not the subject of a medical finding in the month preceding subscription of the guarantee. For the assistance guarantee, chronic diseases with neurological, respiratory, circulatory, blood or renal alterations are excluded, as are relapses and ongoing treatments not yet consolidated before departure.

coverage_duration_limit

The assistance guarantee is limited to trips of a maximum of 90 consecutive calendar days. Events occurring after this period do not give rise to any guarantee. The guarantee is not acquired when the insured decides to undertake travel despite an official statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advising against travel to a country in a state of unrest, riots, wars or civil wars.
