Direct payment

AutoWeek works with a network of designated repair shops (Schadeherstelbedrijven). Repairs carried out there qualify for the Haal & Breng Service (free pick-up and drop-off of your car plus a free replacement car during repair, with a 4-year guarantee on repair and parts) and no or a reduced deductible. If you have the repair done elsewhere, or choose a cash payout instead, the claim payment is reduced by €500, with exceptions for emergency repairs abroad, theft, total loss, and WA liability claims.

Geographic scope

Europe and countries shown on the Green Card

Cover applies for a maximum of 3 consecutive months abroad, in the countries shown on the Green Card issued with the policy. The policy is not valid in countries not shown on, or crossed out on, the Green Card.

Unique selling points

  • Change your coverage between WA and casco modules every day online, free of charge, with the change taking effect immediately.
  • Choose your own deductible (€0, €100 or €250) for Own Damage cover to balance premium against out-of-pocket cost per claim.
  • Free pick-up and drop-off repair service (Haal & Breng) with a complimentary replacement car and a 4-year guarantee on repairs and parts, available even for damage that isn't covered.
  • Free 24/7 damage-reporting and roadside assistance line in the Netherlands, with a dedicated helpline for abroad.
  • Cars under 1 year old are settled at last known list price after total loss or theft, rather than depreciated trade value.

Coverage limits

Own Damage (Schade aan je eigen auto)

Optional

Covers collision-type damage to your own car other than damage covered under Fire/Storm/Nature, Theft or Glass Breakage, including damage you accidentally cause yourself and damage from incorrectly performed maintenance or repair. Settlement is based on the Autowaarde Garantie (ANWB trade value) or, for cars under 1 year old, the last known catalogue price. Wear and tear, ageing, insufficient maintenance and wrong fuel are excluded. Accessories are covered up to €5,000 and replacement transport up to 30 days (14 days if the car is older than 10 years). Deductible is selectable: €0, €100 or €250.

Total Loss Settlement (Autowaarde Garantie)

Optional

Under the Fire/Storm/Nature, Theft and Own Damage modules, a total loss is settled via the Autowaarde Garantie: the amount needed to buy a car of the same make, type, model year, specification and mileage, based on the ANWB trade-value list. Cars under 1 year old are always settled at the last known catalogue price instead.

Partial Loss / Repair Coverage

Optional

Repairable damage under the Fire/Storm/Nature, Theft and Own Damage modules is repaired, preferably at an AutoWeek-designated repair shop via the Haal & Breng Service, which includes a 4-year guarantee on repair and parts and free pick-up/drop-off with a replacement car.

Theft, Joyriding and Burglary

Optional

Covers (attempted) theft, fraud, embezzlement, joyriding and burglary. Not covered if the car was unlocked or the keys were left inside, or if the car does not meet AutoWeek's stated security requirements. No deductible. Settlement via Autowaarde Garantie (or last known catalogue price for cars under 1 year old); accessories up to €5,000; replacement transport up to 30 days (14 days if the car is older than 10 years) while AutoWeek traces the stolen car for up to 30 days after it is reported.

Glass Breakage

Optional

Covers replacement or repair (of a chip/star) of windows and the glass roof at an AutoWeek-designated repair shop. Scratches, dirt, and glass damage on a car already deemed total loss are excluded. Deductible: €0 for repair, €75 for replacement at a designated shop.

Fire, Storm and Nature

Optional

Covers damage directly caused by storm (wind force 7 or higher), natural violence, fire, explosions, short-circuit in the car, and birds and stray animals. Freezing/leakage and damage from animal excrement or gnawing are excluded. No deductible. Settlement via Autowaarde Garantie (or last known catalogue price if under 1 year old); accessories up to €5,000; replacement transport up to 30 days (14 days if the car is older than 10 years).

Vandalism

Optional

Vandalism is not a separately named peril in the T&C; damage caused by vandalism to your own car is covered as collision-type damage under the 'Schade aan je eigen auto' (Own Damage) module, i.e. damage other than the named Fire/Storm/Nature, Theft or Glass Breakage perils.

Mobility Guarantee (Mobiliteitsgarantie)

Covered

Always included regardless of which optional coverages are selected. If you cannot continue driving after fire or an accident, SOS International Alarmcentrale arranges transport of you, your passengers and your car within the Netherlands (0800-29724233); abroad (+31 30 6997917), if the car cannot be repaired within 4 working days, alternative transport is arranged (reimbursed up to €100/day, maximum €1,250 in total), plus transport of the car to the Netherlands (or a payout of its value if too low to justify transport) and repatriation if the driver cannot drive due to illness or accident.

Replacement Vehicle (days)

€30

Value expressed in days, not currency. When Fire/Storm/Nature, Theft or Own Damage coverage is selected, a replacement vehicle is provided for up to 30 days during repair, tracing of a stolen car, or until the claim is otherwise settled (e.g. total loss); reduced to a maximum of 14 days if the car is older than 10 years. Separately, the always-included Mobility Guarantee reimburses alternative transport abroad up to €100/day with a €1,250 total cap, and the Haal & Breng Service provides a free replacement car during repair at a designated repair shop regardless of whether the damage itself is covered.

Occupants Accident Coverage (Inzittenden)

€1,000,000

Covers injury to occupants and damage to their belongings from a traffic accident, not otherwise reimbursed under the WA liability cover, including when the policyholder is not at fault. Maximum €1,000,000 per event, proportional to the permitted number of occupants; no deductible; payout reduced by 25% if an occupant was not wearing the mandatory seatbelt.

Key conditions

Driver age and experience limit

The 1205 terms do not state a minimum driver age or driving-experience requirement; the car must require a category B or BE driving licence.

Repair network requirements

Repairs at an AutoWeek-designated repair shop qualify for the Haal & Breng Service (free pick-up/drop-off, a free replacement car, and a 4-year guarantee on repair and parts) and no or a reduced deductible. Using a non-designated repair shop, or choosing a cash payout instead, reduces the claim payment by €500, except for emergency repairs abroad arranged in consultation with AutoWeek, theft or total loss, and WA liability claims.

Territorial scope

Valid for a maximum of 3 consecutive months abroad, in the countries shown on the Green Card issued with the policy; not valid in countries not shown on, or crossed out on, the Green Card.

Anti-theft requirements

Theft is not covered if the car was not locked or the keys were left inside, or if the car does not meet AutoWeek's security requirements as stated on the policy schedule.

Claim notification deadline

Report damage to AutoWeek as soon as possible (free 24/7 phone line in the Netherlands, a dedicated line abroad, or online); complete and send a European Accident Statement Form; for theft, joyriding, burglary, vandalism or being hit by an unknown driver, file a police report immediately and send it to AutoWeek.

Deductible rules

For Own Damage you can choose a deductible of €0, €100 or €250. Glass Breakage has a €0 deductible for repair and €75 for replacement at a designated shop. Fire/Storm/Nature and Theft carry no deductible. Repairing at a non-designated shop, or taking a cash payout, reduces the claim payment by €500 (with stated exceptions).
