Key conditions

Territorial scope

The car is insured in Europe, Asian Turkey, Morocco and Tunisia. Not insured in: Russia, Belarus, Iran and Azerbaijan.

Green card rules

Coverage applies according to the laws and regulations of the country where the damage occurs; claims within Europe, Asian Turkey, Morocco and Tunisia are covered, but not in Russia, Belarus, Iran or Azerbaijan.

Driver restrictions

Damage is not covered if the driver has no valid licence, is legally or judicially barred from driving, does not have permission from the owner, does not comply with 2toDrive rules, has more alcohol/drugs in blood or breath than legally allowed, refuses a breath/saliva/blood test, or leaves the scene of the accident (harming FBTO's interests).

Claim notification deadline

Report damage as soon as possible via fbto.nl, MijnFBTO or the SchadeApp. Important changes in circumstances (e.g. moving house, selling the car, change of main driver) must be reported within 14 days; late reporting can reduce or void the claim payment.

Bonus-malus rules

Without a claim, the policyholder gains 1 extra claim-free year; when FBTO pays out 1, 2, 3 or 4+ claims in a policy year, claim-free years decrease according to a fixed table (e.g. from 15 years to 10/5/0/-5 respectively), which typically results in a higher premium. Claim-free years are shared with all insurers via Roy-Data.
