Unigarant N.V.
Unigarant
Unigarant is a motor third-party liability insurance for the Netherlands market with online purchase and limited assistance availability.
Direct payment
Unigarant has the right to compensate injured third parties directly and settle claims with them on the policyholder's behalf; where a claim under an attached casco cover is repaired by a repair shop selected by Unigarant, the claim amount is paid directly to that repair shop.
Geographic scope
Netherlands, all European Green Card countries (except crossed-out ones), and non-European Green Card countries; liability cover lapses if the car remains outside the EU for more than six consecutive months
All cover except Replacement Transport applies throughout the Netherlands, all Green Card European countries (except crossed-out ones) and all Green Card non-European countries; the Replacement Transport add-on applies only in the Netherlands and Green Card European countries excluding Albania and crossed-out countries.

Coverage limits
Bodily injury liability (Wettelijke Aansprakelijkheid - personenschade)
Covered
No limit stated
Unigarant reimburses, per event and for all insureds combined, up to the amount stated on the individual policy schedule for injury to third parties, and a higher amount if legally required under the Dutch Motor Liability Insurance Act (WAM); the T&C document itself states no fixed euro figure.
Property damage liability (Wettelijke Aansprakelijkheid - zaakschade)
Covered
No limit stated
Unigarant reimburses, per event and for all insureds combined, up to the amount stated on the individual policy schedule for damage to third-party property, and a higher amount if legally required under the WAM; the T&C document itself states no fixed euro figure.
Traffic legal assistance (Verkeersrechtsbijstand)
€50,000
Optional rider handled by ANWB Rechtsbijstand, covering legal costs up to €50,000 per event in total (€37,500 per event for a group action); if the policyholder chooses their own lawyer instead of the ANWB lawyer, the lawyer's fee and office costs are capped at €5,000 per event.
Green Card territorial cover
Covered
Cover (other than the Replacement Transport add-on) applies in the Netherlands, all European Green Card countries except any that are crossed out on the card, and all non-European Green Card countries except any crossed out; the Green Card evidences this international liability cover.
Right to assistance after accident, breakdown or theft
Covered
If the car can no longer be driven due to an accident, or the policyholder cannot continue driving after an accident or theft, Unigarant covers transport of the car and driver within the Netherlands, the necessary cost of towing the car to the nearest garage abroad, transport of the car to a Dutch destination if repair abroad is not possible within four working days or transport is cheaper than the car's value, and 2nd-class public transport costs for the return trip to the Netherlands. No fixed monetary cap is stated for these costs.
Injury to the driver under third-party liability
Excluded
The mandatory liability cover explicitly excludes damage to the driver and to the belongings of the driver, owner and registered keeper. Injury to the driver themselves is instead covered, if selected, under the optional Occupant Accident (Ongevallen Inzittenden) and Occupant Security (Zekerheid voor inzittenden) riders.
Occupant Accident cover (Ongevallen Inzittenden)
€5,000 – €45,000
Optional rider paying, per deceased occupant, €5,000 under the 'standaard' tier or €10,000 under the 'uitgebreid' tier, and for permanent disability up to €20,000 per event under 'standaard' or up to €45,000 per event under 'uitgebreid'. A related optional rider, Zekerheid voor inzittenden, separately covers occupant injury/property loss up to €1,000,000 per event plus €10,000 per deceased occupant.
Key conditions
Territorial scope
Cover (excluding the Replacement Transport add-on) applies throughout the Netherlands, all European Green Card countries except crossed-out ones, and all non-European Green Card countries except crossed-out ones; Replacement Transport applies only in the Netherlands and European Green Card countries excluding Albania and crossed-out countries.
Green card rules
The liability cover meets the requirements of the Dutch Motor Liability Insurance Act (WAM) and international rules; the Green Card is valid in all listed Green Card countries except those crossed out, and liability cover for use outside the European Union lapses after more than six consecutive months.
Driver restrictions
Cover excludes damage caused by an unauthorized driver, a driver without a valid driving licence (unless simply forgotten to renew), a driver not permitted to drive under a legal ruling, a driver under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication, or use that does not comply with supervised-driving rules (2toDrive); the vehicle also may not be used commercially (e.g. taxi, rental, driving lessons, courier services) unless declared and accepted.
Claim notification deadline
Claims must be reported as soon as possible; theft, burglary, robbery, vandalism, riots or other criminal offences must be reported to the police immediately. If the policyholder disagrees with a claim decision, they must respond within three years, after which no further payment is owed.
Bonus-malus rules
Premium discount is set via a 21-step Bonus/Malus scale based on claim-free years recorded in the shared insurer database Roy-data; one claim-free year moves the policyholder up one step, while claims move them down; tiers 14 to 21 carry the maximum 80% discount and the lowest tiers carry up to a 40% surcharge; certain claim types (e.g. fully recovered from another party, vulnerable road user collisions without fault, accessories-only or rider-only claims) do not affect the Bonus/Malus step.
