Direct payment

If you are liable for a claim, ZEKUR may pay the compensation directly to the person who suffered the damage, and may settle directly with that person.

Geographic scope

Netherlands and the countries shown on the Green Card (Europe, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey)

Coverage applies in the Netherlands and in the countries listed on the Green Card; you must be able to show a valid Green Card to the service provider, and damage occurring in a country not on the Green Card is not covered.

Unique selling points

  • No deductible (eigen risico) applies to the mandatory WA liability coverage, including its Pechhulp, Schadeverzekering Inzittenden, and Rechtsbijstand extensions.
  • No-claims discount (Bonus-malus) can build up to 80% off the premium for claim-free driving.
  • The ZEKUR Alarmcentrale emergency assistance line is reachable 24 hours a day, every day.
  • Repairs at a ZEKUR-affiliated repair shop come with a 4-year repair warranty and a free replacement car during the repair period.
  • Emergency repairs up to €700 (including VAT) can be arranged directly with a repairer of your choice, without prior approval from ZEKUR.

Coverage limits

Bodily injury liability (WA)

Covered

ZEKUR pays the damage it is legally required to pay under the Wet Aansprakelijkheidsverzekering Motorrijtuigen (WAM), up to the insured amount stated on the policy schedule. The WAM sets a single combined statutory minimum (not split by bodily injury/property damage) and the exact insured sum is not fixed in the general terms themselves.

Property damage liability (WA)

Covered

ZEKUR pays for damage to others' property caused with the insured car, up to the amount required by the WAM and stated on the policy schedule; the WAM applies one combined statutory minimum sum for injury and property damage together.

Legal assistance (Rechtsbijstand Auto)

€50,000

Optional add-on handled by Univé Rechtshulp. If a lawyer is legally required and ZEKUR arranges it, covered costs run up to €50,000 per event. If a lawyer is not legally required and you choose your own external expert, ZEKUR pays up to €4,500 per event with a €250 deductible. Legal advice under Dutch law is also available even without this cover.

Roadside assistance (Pechhulp)

Optional

Optional module, available only for vehicles not older than 16 years, with a choice of Netherlands-only or Netherlands+Europe cover. Benefits include on-site repair, towing/storage (necessary costs), transport of occupants, and replacement transport or hotel costs (e.g. €80 per person per night, up to 2 nights) if the vehicle cannot be repaired the same day; help is limited to 7 times per year (max. 5 times in own place of residence) with a maximum of 2 uses per year for replacement transport, and abroad a maximum of 2 uses per year for transport, storage, salvage and replacement transport.

Driver accident cover (part of Schadeverzekering Inzittenden)

Optional

The WA base policy explicitly excludes damage to the driver; injury or death of the driver is only covered via the optional Schadeverzekering Inzittenden (SVI), which covers the driver and passengers together under one combined sum stated on the policy schedule, not as a separate driver-only benefit.

Passenger accident cover (Schadeverzekering Inzittenden)

Optional

Optional add-on covering injury, death, and damage to belongings of the driver and passengers after an accident with the insured car, regardless of fault, up to the amount stated on the policy schedule; not included in the base WA cover.

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Cover applies in the Netherlands and in the countries shown on the Green Card, which for Gewoon ZEKUR WA includes Europe, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey; damage occurring in a country not shown on the Green Card is excluded.

Green card rules

The Green Card is provided automatically with the WA policy as proof of insurance, and a valid Green Card must be shown to the service or repair provider when assistance is requested.

Driver restrictions

No cover if the driver was not entitled to drive, e.g. no valid driving licence, licence suspended/revoked, driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, medication or laughing gas, driving without the policyholder's permission, or a 2toDrive supervisor who does not meet the legal requirements; there is also no cover if the driver refuses a breath, blood or urine test.

Claim notification deadline

You must report damage as soon as possible; the general terms do not specify a fixed number of days for the initial notification.

Bonus-malus rules

Premium discount is based on a Bonus-malus table with 21 steps (trede), ranging from 0% discount (trede 1) to 80% discount (trede 15-21); each claim moves you to a lower step for the following policy year, while claim-free years move you up. Claims-free years are exchanged between insurers via the Roy-data database.
