Regulatory updates
In December 2025, the KNF approved Erste Group's acquisition of a controlling stake in Santander Bank Polska S.A., along with indirect acquisition of shares in Santander Allianz Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń S.A. and Santander Allianz Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń na Życie S.A. On 4 March 2026, the KNF imposed total financial penalties of PLN 21,100,000 on Santander Bank Polska S.A. for violations related to the conduct of brokerage activities (selling financial instruments to clients in a negative target market). As of January 9, 2026, Erste Group is the main shareholder of Santander Bank Polska S.A. The bank rebranded as Erste Bank Polska in April 2026; the insurance entities now operate under the brand 'Erste Allianz' at erste.allianz.pl.
