Direct payment

Chubb Assistance can provide a direct guarantee of payment to the hospital or treating physician up to the limits specified in the insurance certificate, so the insured does not need to pay out of pocket. For low-cost treatments, the insured may be asked to pay on the spot and then claim reimbursement.

Covers reasonable costs of emergency transport services (ambulance, air ambulance, or road ambulance) as part of the medical expenses and repatriation section. Costs are shared within the overall medical expenses limit: Basic 200,000 PLN, Optimum 500,000 PLN, VIP 900,000 PLN. Also covers travel costs for a companion/escort when medically necessary (215 PLN per day up to 2,150 PLN, or return ticket, up to 10 days, same across all tiers).

Medical evacuation and repatriation

Covers all reasonable costs medically necessary for Chubb Assistance to transport the insured back to Poland or to a more appropriate hospital in Poland. Organized and authorized by Chubb Assistance using regular transport connections or air/road ambulance services. Costs shared within the overall medical expenses limit: Basic 200,000 PLN, Optimum 500,000 PLN, VIP 900,000 PLN. Additional travel and hotel costs may only be incurred with prior consent of Chubb Assistance.

COVID-19 treatment

COVID-19 is treated as any other acute illness under Section 1 (Medical expenses and repatriation). The policy wording (CTI_PL_CM0002 COVID) explicitly includes unexpected acts of terrorism and does not exclude COVID-19 as a general exclusion, provided the illness was not pre-existing (diagnosed/treated in the 5 years before booking). Limits are shared with the overall medical expenses limit: Basic 200,000 PLN, Optimum 500,000 PLN, VIP 900,000 PLN. Travel to destinations with a Ministry of Foreign Affairs 'do not travel' advisory remains excluded.

Pre-existing medical conditions

Excluded

Pre-existing conditions are excluded. Specifically excluded are: (A) any illness diagnosed, treated, or requiring hospitalization/outpatient treatment in the 5 years before trip booking (or start of insurance period if later); (B) any pre-existing illness being treated by regular prescription medication at the date of booking; (C) any heart disease or cancer of any kind diagnosed at any time before booking. There is no waiver option for pre-existing conditions under this product.

Winter sports extension

Optional

Winter sports coverage is available as a paid add-on extension (Rozszerzenie o sporty zimowe), confirmed in the insurance certificate. When purchased, it extends the covered activities list to include skiing, snowboarding, glacier skiing, cross-country skiing, kite snowboarding, langlauf, ski touring, speed skating, snowblading, sledding, snow scooter/Ski-Doo. For annual multi-trip policies, winter sports travel may not exceed 21 days total per insurance period. Trips whose main purpose is winter sports are not covered without this extension.

Recreational sports and leisure activities

A specified list of recreational sports and leisure activities is automatically covered (see OWU pages 11–13 for the full list), including hiking up to 1,000m a.s.l., scuba diving to 18m with qualified instructor, surfing, sailing on inland/coastal waters, cycling (excluding BMX and mountain biking), and many others. Activities NOT on the list are excluded. Professional or paid sports participation is excluded. Activities whose primary purpose is sport are excluded (unless the winter sports extension was purchased and applies). Extreme or high-risk activities not listed are not covered.

Pregnancy complications

Pregnancy complications are covered under Section 1 (medical expenses and repatriation) subject to two conditions: (1) the insured must be travelling between weeks 28 and 35 of pregnancy; (2) the insured must have obtained written confirmation from a physician of fitness to travel no earlier than 5 days before departure abroad. Covers all amounts the insured is legally obligated to pay as compensation for accidental bodily injury (including death or illness) to another person or accidental loss/damage to property, occurring during the insurance period as a result of travel. Legal costs incurred abroad

Covers legal costs arising from a claim where the insured sustains bodily injury or illness abroad due to the actions of a third party.
