Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

The insured must contact the Assistance Centre (+48 22 483 39 70 or via travelassist.colonnade.pl) before taking any independent action, within 24 hours of the occurrence of an event covered by the insurance. If this is not possible for reasons beyond the insured's control, the Assistance Centre must be notified as soon as such reasons cease, and no later than within 7 days of that date.

Unauthorized treatment

If the insured or their representative did not contact the Assistance Centre to obtain coverage guarantee or cost reimbursement for reasons beyond their control, they must notify the Assistance Centre of the incurred costs immediately after such reasons cease, and no later than within 7 days. Claim for reimbursement must be filed in writing within 7 days of return to Poland or country of permanent residence, and no later than 45 days from the date of the accident. Failure to contact may result in refusal or limitation of benefit payment.

Purchase while abroad

If the insurance contract is concluded while the insured is abroad (outside Poland or their country of permanent residence), coverage begins at the earliest on the 3rd day counted from the day following the conclusion of the contract (waiting period), subject to payment of the premium. This waiting period does not apply when extending a previously concluded insurance period with the same insurer, provided the extension occurs before the expiry of the previous insurance period.

Chronic conditions

Treatment costs resulting from sudden acute exacerbation of a chronic disease (including cancer) requiring immediate medical assistance before the end of the foreign trip are covered up to the tier-specific sub-limits (Silver 50,000 EUR; Gold 200,000 EUR; Platinum 500,000 EUR). Coverage is excluded if, for health reasons, there were medical contraindications to foreign travel before departure, or if pre-departure indications for surgery or inpatient treatment existed. The insured should obtain medical clearance before travel if they have chronic conditions.

Pregnancy

Immediate medical assistance related to pregnancy complications and associated transport to a medical facility are covered. Premature birth up to and including week 32 of pregnancy is covered (benefit paid jointly for mother and child up to the insured sum). Coverage does not apply to birth after week 32 of pregnancy, termination of pregnancy unless performed to save the life or health (and permitted by the law of the country where performed), artificial insemination or infertility treatment, or contraceptive purchases.

Pre-existing condition exclusions

A chronic disease is defined as one whose image according to current medical knowledge includes long-term, permanent or recurring symptoms or deviations in additional tests, and which was diagnosed, treated or showed symptoms in the 24 months preceding the insurance contract date. Cancer is also considered a chronic disease. Costs arising from chronic disease exacerbation are covered within the standard medical expenses sum up to tier-specific sub-limits. Coverage is excluded where medical contraindications to travel existed before departure.

Coverage duration limit

Single-trip (short-term) policies: up to 365 days per trip. Annual multi-trip policies: coverage provided for the first 70 days of each trip made during the insurance period. The insurance period indicated on the policy may not exceed 365 days. Persons whose country of permanent residence is not Poland may conclude a contract for up to 120 days.
