The insurer, via the Alarm Centre (Europ Assistance Polska), directly organises and covers costs of medical treatment, transport, and assistance services. Refund of costs borne by the insured is also possible when prior contact with the Alarm Centre was impossible for reasons beyond the insured's control.

Medical treatment costs (abroad)

Covers costs of emergency medical treatment abroad due to sudden illness or accident, including outpatient procedures, doctor consultations, medications, hospitalisation, surgical procedures and doctor's fees, up to the insured sum chosen at purchase (between 50,000 and 1,000,000 PLN for international travel). An integral deductible of 100 PLN applies per event.

COVID-19 / pandemic quarantine coverage

Conditional

Costs of mandatory quarantine (isolatorium) ordered by medical services during an international trip are covered within the medical expenses sum, provided the sudden illness is confirmed by a diagnostic test for a disease classified as pandemic by WHO, and the pre-booked accommodation cannot be used in another period or the reservation ends during quarantine. Standard treatment of pandemic diseases is covered as a sudden illness under §7.

Pre-existing / chronic disease exacerbation coverage

By default, deterioration of the insured's health caused by exacerbation or complications of a chronic disease is excluded. This risk can be included by paying an additional premium (optional extension per §3 ust. 5 pkt 14). Chronic disease is defined as a diagnosed condition treated continuously or periodically, or that caused hospitalisation in the 24 months before policy inception.

Message relay is provided without limit.

Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

The insured must contact the Alarm Centre before taking any independent action. If prior contact was impossible for reasons beyond the insured's control, costs incurred may be refunded upon submission of documentation including a detailed event description, medical records, invoices and proof of payment.

Unauthorized treatment

If the insured refuses to return to Poland despite the treating physician confirming that their health condition permits transport, the insurer is not obliged to cover further treatment costs or organise additional services related to the same illness or accident (except repatriation transport).

Purchase while abroad

If the policy is concluded after the start of an international trip, coverage starts no earlier than 3 days after the date of conclusion of the insurance contract and payment of the premium.

Chronic conditions

Deterioration of health caused by exacerbation or complications of a chronic disease (defined as a diagnosed condition treated continuously or periodically, or causing hospitalisation in the 24 months before policy inception, including allergies unless a sudden life-threatening reaction) is excluded unless the optional chronic disease extension has been purchased for an additional premium.

Pregnancy

Routine pregnancy monitoring and planned obstetric care are excluded. Covered as emergency: (1) childbirth before 32nd week of pregnancy up to 10,000 PLN, (2) one medical visit for sudden pregnancy-related health deterioration (excl. delivery) plus related medical transport up to 5,000 PLN. All other pregnancy-related consequences are excluded per §13 ust. 3 pkt 3.

Pre-existing condition exclusions

Pre-existing conditions known before policy inception are excluded unless the chronic disease optional extension has been purchased. Stroke and myocardial infarction are not classified as sudden illnesses if the insured had a diagnosed cardiovascular condition (hypertension, coronary artery disease, arteriosclerosis, diabetes or lipid disorders) before policy inception.

Coverage duration limit

Single-trip policies: minimum 1 day, maximum 90 days. Annual policies: 365 days with the limitation that a single foreign trip may not exceed 90 days. Coverage may be automatically extended by up to 48 hours without additional premium if the insured's return to Poland is delayed due to circumstances beyond their control (transport breakdown, natural events, weather-related cancellations or accidents).
