Direct payment

VICTORIA can settle claims by paying repairers directly, deducting any applicable deductible at the time of indemnity payment even when payment is made directly to the repair entity; toward third parties VICTORIA is liable in full regardless of any deductible agreed with the policyholder, and glass-breakage claims are routed through the Convened Network (Rede Convencionada), which performs the repair or replacement directly.

Geographic scope

Mandatory RC applies across the EU/EEA and associated territories; optional (facultative) coverages are limited to mainland Portugal, Madeira, the Azores and the remaining EU member states unless otherwise agreed.

Covers accidents occurring in all EU member states, other EEA states (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), Switzerland, Croatia, Faroe Islands, Channel Islands, Gibraltar, Isle of Man, San Marino, Vatican City and Andorra; coverage in other countries requires a valid international insurance certificate (Green Card).

Unique selling points

  • Optional RC Extra tier raises the third-party liability capital to €50,000,000, far above the statutory €7,750,000 minimum.
  • No contractual deductible applies when a glass replacement is carried out at a workshop in the Convened Network (Rede Convencionada).
  • Certain claim-related services, including urgent claim reporting, are available every day, 24 hours a day, according to VICTORIA's claims service page.
  • A modular RC/DP structure (RC Base, RC Extra, DP Base, DP Extra) lets policyholders tailor liability and own-damage coverage levels within a single product.

Coverage limits

Bodily injury liability (compulsory third-party liability)

€6,450,000 – €50,000,000

Under the statutory RC Base tier, the mandatory minimum capital for bodily injury is €6,450,000 per accident (per the IPID), forming part of the combined €7,750,000 RC Base capital shown in the coverage table (the remaining €1,300,000 corresponds to property damage). The optional RC Extra tier raises the combined liability capital to €50,000,000; neither the coverage table nor the IPID discloses a separate bodily-injury/property-damage split for this higher tier.

Legal protection

Optional

Legal protection is listed among VICTORIA Auto's facultative (optional) coverages in the IPID. The General Conditions treat Special Conditions - which govern coverages beyond the base contract - as needing to be specifically identified in the Particular Conditions, meaning this cover must be actively selected; no monetary limit is disclosed in the reviewed documents.

Green Card (international insurance certificate)

Covered

The contract can cover circulation in territories beyond those automatically included, provided a valid international insurance certificate (Green Card) is held; the certificate is also required documentation when the vehicle is sold and must be returned to VICTORIA within 24 hours of alienation.

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Mandatory RC covers accidents in all EU member states, the other EEA states (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), Switzerland, Croatia, Faroe Islands, Channel Islands, Gibraltar, Isle of Man, San Marino, Vatican City and Andorra, plus any other country whose national insurance bureau has adhered to the inter-bureau agreement; facultative coverages are limited to mainland Portugal, Madeira, the Azores and the remaining EU member states unless otherwise agreed.

Green card rules

Circulation in territories beyond those automatically covered requires a valid international insurance certificate (Green Card); upon sale of the vehicle, the policyholder must return the Green Card, provisional certificate, RC certificate or payment notice to VICTORIA within 24 hours of the sale.

Driver restrictions

Accidents occurring while the vehicle is driven by a person not legally licensed to drive are excluded from both the compulsory and facultative coverages; bodily injury suffered by the driver responsible for the accident, and material damage to that driver or the policyholder, are also excluded from the compulsory guarantee.

Claim notification deadline

The policyholder or insured must notify VICTORIA in writing of any claim as soon as possible, and never later than 8 days from the date of occurrence or from becoming aware of it, providing all relevant documentary and/or testimonial evidence.

Bonus-malus rules

Premium bonuses for claim-free years and malus surcharges for claims are applied under a 17-class bonus/malus scale (Annex I), ranging from a 50% bonus (Class 1) down to a 300% malus surcharge (Class 17); only claims that resulted in an indemnity payment or a reserve assumed by VICTORIA count for this purpose, and a reserve-based bonus suspension can last up to two years before reinstatement.
