Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

For emergency medical/dental or emergency transportation assistance, contact Allianz Assistance immediately via the 24/7 helpline (+351 210 014 256). For all other claims, notify within a maximum of 8 days of the event; late reporting may reduce the indemnity. Transportation not authorized/organized in advance by Allianz Assistance is reimbursed only up to what the insurer would have paid had it organized it.

Unauthorized treatment

Expenses incurred without prior authorization from the assistance service are excluded. Emergency transportation, medical repatriation, transport to bedside and repatriation of remains not arranged in advance by the insurer are reimbursed only up to the amount the insurer would have paid had it organized them.

Purchase while abroad

The policy is designed for individuals domiciled in Portugal who have booked their trip with KLM. It must be subscribed and the full premium paid on or before the departure date; it cannot be purchased once the trip has started.

Chronic conditions

Non-stabilized pre-existing medical conditions that were diagnosed or treated before the policy purchase date are excluded from all coverages.

Pregnancy

Normal, complication-free pregnancy or childbirth is excluded, except when and to the extent expressly referenced and covered under trip cancellation or trip interruption coverage. Fertility treatments and elective abortion are also excluded.

Pre-existing condition exclusions

A pre-existing condition is any illness that, in the 120 days before the policy was purchased, led to medical consultation, diagnosis, care, treatment, symptoms, or prescribed medication. Pre-existing medical conditions are excluded from coverage.

Coverage duration limit

Travel insurance cannot cover trips exceeding 90 consecutive days. Most benefits' coverage begins on the trip's departure date and ends on the return date (or the 90th day, if earlier); cancellation cover begins the day after purchase and ends on the departure date.
