Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

The insured (or their representative) must contact the Eurolife Assistance Centre before presenting to a medical facility, repair shop, etc. In a life-threatening emergency requiring immediate hospitalisation, Eurolife must be notified within 48 hours of hospitalisation. All insured events must be notified to the insurer within 30 days of occurrence; failure to do so gives the insurer the right to refuse indemnification if it cannot determine the cause or extent of the loss. Expenses incurred without prior Eurolife approval may be refused or reduced to a reasonable market level (max. 500 EUR for Turkey and Egypt; max. 1,500 EUR for other countries).

Unauthorized treatment

If the insured does not notify Eurolife before presenting to a medical facility or repair shop, and/or incurs expenses without approval from the Assistance Centre, Eurolife may refuse to cover those expenses or reduce the indemnification to a level considered reasonable (market prices), up to a maximum of 500 EUR in Turkey and Egypt, or 1,500 EUR in other countries. For outpatient treatments not resulting from fractures and whose value does not exceed 300 EUR, the insured may pay directly and request reimbursement upon return to Romania.

Purchase while abroad

If the insurance contract is concluded after the insured has already left Romania, coverage for insured risks begins only after 10 days from policy issuance and full premium payment (day of issuance and payment included). In such case the insured must prove, with supporting documents, that they left Romanian territory no more than 4 weeks before policy issuance.

Chronic conditions

Chronic, recurrent, degenerative or pre-existing conditions known to the insured at policy issuance are excluded. Conditions diagnosed after the policy start but with prior symptoms or for which investigations were conducted before the policy are also excluded. As an exception, emergency medical assistance for life-saving or acute pain relief during travel is covered up to 300 EUR.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy, childbirth, voluntary abortion, infertility, contraception, IVF and their complications are excluded from all coverages. The sole exception is the trip cancellation trigger (Zen package): premature birth of the insured's child or grandchild before week 37 of pregnancy, occurring up to 7 days before the trip start date, is a covered event for the cancellation coverage.

Pre-existing condition exclusions

Any pre-existing, recurrent, chronic, degenerative or continuous condition of the insured or their relatives, known at policy issuance (regardless of visible symptoms), is excluded. The insured is obliged to declare all relevant information at policy inception. Exception: life-saving assistance or acute pain relief up to 300 EUR is covered during the trip even for pre-existing conditions.

Coverage duration limit

Coverage is valid for trips not exceeding 90 consecutive days each (for persons under 70 years of age) or 30 consecutive days each (for persons aged 70 and over). Trips exceeding these periods are not covered. Multiple consecutive contracts to extend coverage beyond the maximum period are considered a breach of the insurance conditions; only the first policy will be deemed valid.
