Direct payment

Kooperativa settles claims either by direct invoicing with its contracted or authorised repair shops, or by cash settlement (a repair-cost budget calculated by the insurer) if the policyholder does not submit repair invoices; in the latter case lower reference labour rates apply.

Geographic scope

Europe

Coverage applies to insured events occurring within the geographic territory of Europe, unless otherwise agreed in the insurance contract.

Unique selling points

  • Base cover includes damage caused by wildlife or domestic-animal collisions, a peril many competitors treat as an add-on.
  • Rodent-bite damage to the vehicle is covered as standard, not sold separately.
  • Base glazing cover extends to all vehicle glass (windscreen, side, rear, sunroof and mirror glass), not just the windscreen.
  • The optional replacement-vehicle rider reimburses rental costs up to EUR 100 per day for the entire repair period.
  • GAP financial-loss cover can run for up to 5 years and optionally reimburses the base-policy deductible as well.

Coverage limits

Own Damage (Collision/Accident)

Covered

Covers damage to or destruction of the insured vehicle or its parts caused by an accidental event resulting from the vehicle colliding with an obstacle or with another moving object, including parking damage; the ceiling of indemnity per insurance year equals the agreed sum insured.

Source

Total Loss

Covered

If the reasonable repair costs (incl. VAT) equal or exceed 100% of the vehicle's general value immediately before the loss, the loss is treated as a total loss and indemnity equals the general value of the vehicle at that time, less the value of usable remnants and the agreed deductible.

Source

Partial Loss

Covered

Partial damage where the cost of restoring the vehicle to its condition before the loss does not exceed the vehicle's general value at the time of the loss; the insurer reimburses reasonable repair costs (parts, material, labour and painting) in full.

Source

Theft and Robbery

Covered

Covers loss of or damage to the insured vehicle or its insured equipment caused by burglary-theft, robbery, unauthorised use by another person, or damage caused during theft or an attempted theft, provided the event is reported to the police within 24 hours of discovery. Simple theft without overcoming a security obstacle is not covered.

Glazing Damage

Covered

Only in OPTIMUM

Base cover includes damage to the vehicle's glazing (windscreen, side-door glass, rear window, glass of rear third/fifth doors, sunroof glass and exterior mirror glass), including the adhesive kit needed to fit a new pane; subject to the policy deductible. An optional windscreen-only rider (Art. 27, part of the OPTIMUM package or standalone) removes the deductible for windscreen claims.

Natural Perils

Covered

Covers damage or destruction caused by a sudden, unforeseeable natural event: fire, explosion, aircraft impact, falling trees/poles/other objects, lightning strike, weight of snow or ice, flood, windstorm, hail, landslide/rockfall, avalanche, earthquake, water leakage from plumbing/fire-fighting systems, sonic boom, or stormy wind.

Source

Vandalism

Covered

Covers intentional damage to or destruction of the insured vehicle or its part by a person other than the policyholder, insured, household members, employees or persons acting on their instructions, provided the event is reported to and investigated by the police without delay.

Roadside Assistance / Towing

Optional

24/7 roadside assistance (breakdown help, towing, accommodation, fuel delivery, legal and medical assistance) provided by Global Assistance Slovakia is available as an optional rider (Art. 26). Independently of this rider, the base policy already reimburses the cost of transporting a damaged insured vehicle to the nearest authorised repair shop, capped at EUR 0.66/km (cars up to 3,500 kg), EUR 1.00/km (light commercial vehicles up to 3,500 kg) or EUR 1.56/km (vehicles over 3,500 kg), all incl. VAT (Art. 12(28)). A separate 'Vyprostenie a odťah' rider (Art. 32) extends recovery/towing cover further.

Replacement Vehicle

€100

Optional rider (Art. 34) reimbursing the cost of renting a replacement vehicle while the insured vehicle is being repaired following a covered claim; it can only be agreed together with the Global Assistance rider. Indemnity is capped at EUR 100 per day, based on a submitted rental invoice, up to the overall sum insured chosen for this rider for the policy period.

Accident Insurance for Vehicle Occupants

Optional

Optional rider (Art. 29) covering unnamed occupants of the insured vehicle for death or permanent bodily impairment resulting from an accident that occurs while starting, driving, boarding/alighting from, or briefly stopping the vehicle; the sum insured is set flat-rate per seat according to the insurer's tariff. Available individually or as part of the BASIC/OPTIMUM packages.

Key conditions

Driver age and experience limit

The general terms do not set a minimum driver age or experience requirement; cover requires only that the person driving the insured vehicle at the time of the loss held the appropriate category of driving licence and used the vehicle with the consent of the owner or holder (Art. 2(31), Art. 6(1)(s)).

Repair network requirements

Repairs should be carried out at an authorised repair shop for the vehicle's make or at a repair shop contracted by Kooperativa, where costs are checked against the insurer's calculation programme using original parts and manufacturer labour-time norms; repairs at a non-contracted, non-authorised shop are capped at EUR 21/hour excl. VAT, and a cash-settlement 'budget' claim uses EUR 10/hour and aftermarket part prices.

Territorial scope

Cover applies to insured events occurring within the geographic territory of Europe, unless the policy agrees otherwise (Art. 5).

Anti-theft requirements

Theft cover requires the vehicle to carry security devices scaled to its insured value: one device for vehicles up to 3,500 kg (incl. optional equipment) worth up to EUR 100,000, a combination of two devices for EUR 100,000–150,000, and a combination of three devices (one of which must be an insurer-accepted tracking system) above EUR 150,000; devices must be certified, kept operational and used every time the vehicle is left (Art. 16).

Claim notification deadline

The insured must notify Kooperativa of any insured event without delay and no later than 30 calendar days from when they learned of it (Art. 15(3)); theft, robbery, unauthorised use, vandalism and arson/explosion losses must additionally be reported to the police, in the case of theft/robbery within 24 hours of discovery (Art. 4(2)(f)).

Deductible rules

The policyholder bears the agreed deductible on each claim (a minimum EUR amount or a percentage of the loss, whichever is higher); if the vehicle's mandatory entry inspection was not carried out before the loss, the deductible is increased to 30% of the indemnity, at least EUR 500 (Art. 18, Art. 20(4)).
