Overview
Vzajemna zdravstvena zavarovalnica d.d. is Slovenia's largest specialized voluntary health insurance company, founded on November 1, 1999. It was mandated by Slovenian statute (ZSPVZZ) to convert from a mutual insurer (d.v.z.) into a joint-stock company (d.d.) after supplementary health insurance was abolished on January 1, 2024, and its shares (ticker VZZR) began trading on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange on March 4, 2026, making it the largest Slovenian joint-stock company by number of shareholders.

Regulatory updates
Vzajemna completed its statutory conversion from mutual insurer to joint-stock company: shares were issued to former policyholder-members, the prospectus was approved by the Securities Market Agency (ATVP) on 12 February 2026, and trading of VZZR shares began on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange Standard Market on 4 March 2026, with the company noting it is now Slovenia's largest listed company by shareholder count (over 440,000 shareholders). Its first published half-year results as a listed company (H1 2026) showed gross written premium of the Vzajemna Group up 16.1% year-on-year to EUR 20.3 million, but a net loss of about EUR 296,000 at group level due to one-off effects, while the solvency capital ratio remained strong at 297% at end-June 2026; management expects the group to return to profit by 2028 and will set a dividend policy at that point. The company remains under Solvency II supervision of the Insurance Supervision Agency (AZN), with the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia (ZZZS) as a significant shareholder.
