Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

In the event of a TUJINA Osnovno insurance event, the Assistance Centre (+386 5 66 28 500) must be contacted as soon as possible. In case of hospitalization, calling the Assistance Centre is a mandatory prerequisite for coverage. If costs were paid personally (not for hospitalization), the claim must be reported within 3 days of return to Slovenia. Failure to follow Assistance Centre instructions is grounds for exclusion from coverage.

Unauthorized treatment

Services provided without the authorization and/or involvement or approval of the Assistance Centre are not covered. Rejection of recommended treatment or refusal of transport home as directed by the Assistance Centre leads to exclusion from coverage. All medical obligations under TUJINA Osnovno must be coordinated through the Assistance Centre.

Purchase while abroad

The policy must be concluded before departure abroad. If the policy is concluded while the insured is already abroad, a 5-day waiting period (carency) applies before coverage begins — coverage starts after 5 days from the policy start date indicated on the policy. This applies to both short-term and annual policies. If renewing while abroad, the policy should be renewed at least 5 days before expiry to avoid the waiting period.

Chronic conditions

Acute worsening of chronic diseases (e.g. heart disease, renal and gallstones, asthma, diabetes), chronic conditions, and recurring illnesses are covered. However, a mandatory additional sub-limit applies: EUR 1,000 (Combinations A and F), EUR 2,000 (B), EUR 3,000 (C), EUR 4,000 (D and E). This sub-limit applies collectively to all coverages under the policy for such a claim event, regardless of the selected overall insured sum. General worsening of pre-existing or recurring conditions that existed before departure (and were not fully resolved) is not covered.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy, routine prenatal check-ups, typical pregnancy conditions, and delivery after the 37th week of pregnancy are excluded from coverage. An exception applies only in the case of emergency to save the life of the mother or the child.

pre_existing_conditions

Worsening of pre-existing conditions (illnesses already treated, present but not fully resolved before conclusion of the insurance or before departure) is excluded, as are all medical measures related to any illness or condition that existed before the conclusion of the insurance. Exceptions: chronic diseases, chronic conditions, and recurring illnesses (only acute worsening covered, subject to sub-limit). Standard pre-existing conditions such as post-operative wound dressing, viral infections, flu, and fever are also excluded.

coverage_duration_limit

Single-trip policies can cover trips from 1 day up to 1 year. Annual multi-trip policies cover an unlimited number of trips throughout the policy year, but each individual stay abroad must not exceed 90 days. The policy must be concluded before departure. Coverage ends at the expiry of the day indicated as the policy end date.
