Europäische Reiseversicherung AG is Austria's largest travel insurer, founded in 1907 in Budapest as Europäische Güter- und Reisegepäckversicherung-AG with an Austrian directorate established in Vienna in 1908. The company is wholly owned by Europ Assistance S.A. (Paris) and is part of the international Generali Group. It offers travel cancellation, travel medical/assistance and combined travel insurance packages for private and business travellers, as well as related products for tourism-industry partners. From 1 January 2027 the company will be rebranded as 'Redion' as part of a global Generali initiative.

Regulatory updates
The company is supervised by the FMA (Otto-Wagner-Platz 5, 1090 Vienna). Recent corporate developments include a leadership change with Jochen Zöschg (formerly Zurich sales board member) becoming the new CEO in late 2025, succeeding Wolfgang Lackner, and Alexandra Hailzl being appointed to the management board effective 1 December 2025. Generali announced in 2026 that the Europäische Reiseversicherung brand, together with Europ Assistance and Generali Employee Benefits, will be merged into a new global brand called 'Redion' in Austria as of 1 January 2027; contracts, services and products remain unchanged.
