HDI Versicherung AG's affiliated life insurer, HDI Lebensversicherung AG, closed its Austrian branch at the end of 2024 after 30 years, discontinuing new business and transferring servicing of the existing portfolio to Germany (Cologne), while the non-life business of HDI Versicherung AG (motor, household, liability, legal protection) was unaffected by this withdrawal. For 2024, HDI Versicherung AG reported a 6.4% rise in gross written premiums in Austria to EUR 289 million and an improved combined ratio of 85.3%, and won first place in the 'legal protection private' category of the Versicherungs Award Austria.
