Regulatory updates
In July 2024, the FMA imposed a fine of EUR 367,542 against Wiener Städtische for multiple breaches of anti-money laundering due diligence obligations (FM-GwG), specifically for failing to verify the identity of beneficial owners for three high-risk customers and omitting PEP checks. Separately, in proceedings related to the belated notification of a 10% shareholding threshold underrun (Stock Exchange Act 2018), a prior fine was annulled by the Federal Administrative Court following a Supreme Administrative Court ruling in August 2023.
